While shopping I came across the MotoBatt brand battery. Their model MBTX12U is a direct substitute for the yuasa YTX14-BS and exceeds its specs. It's an AGM battery and claims to have 14 versus 12 Ah and 200 versus 160 CCA's. It also has a two-year warranty. I found some really decent prices and free shipping on the net. No affiliation, etc.

The most interesting thing is that it has 4 terminals. Two on each side. This is done to make this battery substitute for more battery models but I find it interesting because I could use the extra terminals for accessory wiring and leaving the main terminals for just the starter circuit. This is the link:http://www.motobattbatteries.com/motobatt-mbtx12u.html.

Again , anyone have one of these?

I don't have any experience with them, but I must say that I'm less impressed with Yuasa than I used to be. I've had a few that lasted a very long time, 5 years in my ZX7 and was going strong when I sold it. But I've seen a lot of Yuasa failures recently. I'm not 100% sure it's all due to the battery though. I know that manufacturers (especially of sport bikes) are spec-ing smaller and smaller batteries and they're possibly overburdened.

If you do order one then keep us posted. I also like the "auxiliary" terminals.

And this has nothing to do with bikes or the Valk but I have an Interstate battery in my Jeep right now. It's been in there since I bought it in 2004. More than seven years, 70,000 miles and two alternators failures later (meaning multiple run-downs) it's still going. I'm sure it'll die this week now that I've said that.  Wink

I'm local to the company and have one. The original one leaked at a terminal and was replaced no questions asked. Second one is fine, a real strong cranker, but I don't like the terminals.

Shadow ACE Tourer forum found this about a year ago, but I think only one person posted that they bought it. It's been holding out OK at last report.

It was about the same price for the T shapped AGM motobat battery as a regular Yusa lead acid one.

I found a place to ship for free for $92 to the US. Local lead acid was $179 and up.

FYI,
the Yuasa YTX14-BS is an AGM type battery as is the replacement one at wal-mart. AGMs need to be intially charged differently with one of the newer type of chargers that monitor amps and voltages for long life of the AGM battery.

I recently replaced the Interstate MC battery I had after less than three years, I was not very impressed. I bought a Sears Gold Series for the bike. On sale 89 $ then 5 $ off for some sort of survey.  Cranks like a air starter, no complaints so far.
