I usually stay at cable junction, take 129 to the gap store, go east on 28, about 6 to 8 miles on the left. But the bad it is primitive, it has bath rooms, but no water  or elect at the sites.  State operated, If I remember about $7 per night

Life is like a hot bath. It feels good while you’re in it, but the longer you stay in, the more wrinkled you get.

There are first come first served primitive sites on the west side of lake Santeelah. Near the Joyce Kilmer forest.

Fontana Dam has camping ...From Deal's Gap take Hwy.28 just as soon as you cross the river bridge take a left....Camp ground is located at the end of the road.Bathroom with showers the sites are  primitive with fire ring and table.
