How many members are building parts inventory for their Valks. I have been doing this for a few years and wish I would of acquired more when prices where little more reasonable. Have sold many parts to help out fellow members also. Still have a few things to get. Just curious if I'm not alone.

Yep.... Just started my parts inventory with various gaskets, a new petcock, and various other small parts. My coveted piece though is a 15,000 mile final drive in perfect condition from when we triked my wife's 2003 Standard. As the saying goes, "they can have my final drive when they pry it from my cold dead fingers" Over the winter would like to pick up a spare u-joint, pinion cup, and driveshaft. Unfortunately, I think it is coming to the point where parts are going to have to be stockpiled, as they are getting more diffucult to find in new condition. It is only going to get worse (cue forboding, horror movie-type suspense music).

You are not alone, spare complete engine with 4200 miles, final drive, alternator, starter, front fairing, saddle bag lids, bearings etc @ etc. I keep looking for a blown up one to rebuild.

I keep my eyes open for a nice, very low miles standard, JUST for parts! I figure if I could get one at the right price, I can MORE than get the money out of it, just in spares. Plus, I get the added pleasure of riding "nekkid" once in a while.
I used to stock a lot of spare parts for my 1000 wings. Never seemed to need the parts I DID have, but the ones I DIDN'T have. I would like a final drive, just in case, but with good maintenance, I'd think mine would be good for another 300,000 or so - only has 15,000 on it now.
I DO have an assortment of metric bolts...

... Never seemed to need the parts I DID have, but the ones I DIDN'T have. See, it does work. If you want to be sure you won't need a replacement part just buy a spare.
I've sent more out than I've used for myself.

Wow, you are impressive horders, it's a good idea though. To me, the bike is new. It's hard to think of mine as 13 years old.

Oh, and 1 set of new in the box Viking pipes 1 set of stock pipes 1 set of stock pipes modified for a custom set of turbo mufflers, with 4.5" polished SS stacks 1 Viking supercharger kit minus the supercharger, just the manifold and pulleys no supercharger... long story with a bad ending.

I need to start getting spare parts
maybe some clutch cables and a u joint to buy before my big trip next june

I've been doing it long enough I've had a few things stolen. I had a front fender, fork tubes, and a final drive stored at a house I owned and they all disappeared. Sad part is I'm fairly certain they were sold for scrap so a low life renter I had could get their fix.
