Hello!
Just can not figure out where ticking is coming of my 1500C´99... specially well to hear when engine is on ideling. When rpm is above 1400 then ticking is not to hear. Probably just because other noise is shadeing tick noise.
We have checked timing belts, tensiores controlled, valves adjusted.
Tick seems to come on top of engine, somewere were the carburettors are... so i think it should not be the problem with exhaust gaskets. But anyhow difficult to say exact tick location...
So please help what do you think?!

My guess is it is the pair valve, part of smog stuff.  Get used to it or desmog the bike.  Check ShopTalk for the precedure.

Other than clicking, is there any other advantage to the desmog?

It'll put an end to potential vacuum leak problems in the future.

Stupid question here............... Can you repair the pair valve or just replace with a new one if you want to keep your bike stock?

If you have loud pipes or bad ears, you won't hear the pair valve tick.

Like when I was a kid in Dad's car;
Dad, what's that ticking noise?
(turns up radio) What ticking noise?

I would do the desmog and keep all the parts if you want to return it to stock for some reason later.

I would suggest that if you think you would ever want to return your bike to the stock condition that you don't remove the smog part to start with.
