Glad I wasn't out and about when this was going on.  I want to say it is an annual meeting of several street bike "gangs"...I mean clubs.  I remember a simliar event a year or two ago.  They met at a local Hooters.  Funny thing in, they had a walled in area to perform their stunts but most of them chose to do them on the roads.  These guys have absolutely no respect for others on the road.  Would have been fun to have messed with them...wait...strike that...why drop to their level???

It pee's me off to no end when I see a bunch of dumb-a$$es doing this crap on the roads.  Leave the stunting to parking lots or in the middle of no-where.

Parading without a permit it is why the bikers were arrested in Easy Rider. If you want to block the road then you need a permit in nearly every area. That is why the Charlotte Zombie Walk is restricted to the side walk. The organizers can't get a permit or won't pay for the permit.

Sunday my wife and I were cruising to breakfast in her Volvo station wagon in downtown Charlotte. We were mobbed by bikers participating in the Urban Assault Ride. I am a fan of bicycling. While I don't pedal myself I think people should. I don't have the stamina so I respect it in others. However, many of these bikers were not adhering to any known road rules. They were lane splitting, going the wrong direction in the street, swerving in and out of traffic, ignoring stop lights and on coming traffic. I really really wanted to knock a few off of their rides when they zipped down both sides of the Volvo in my lane. I resisted the temptation. Honestly, if I did not hold a straight line with the Volvo it would have knocked them about by itself.

So, while I'm in favor of large motorcycle gatherings, and impromptu flash mobs, if they're going to use the highway they need permits.

I'd prefer if they'd flash mob in abandoned box store parking lots or warehouse districts.

That is just my two cents. Admittedly, I could be biased by recent events. As I've stated elsewhere I don't care how people chose to ride as long as it is safe for me. Keeping out of the way, or getting the proper organizer permits, helps ensure public safety.

They should have given the incident a purpose, such as,  protesting gas prices, helmet laws or insurance rates.

At least they weren't completely shutting down and blocking a major freeway through the town like these clowns did in Dallas earlier this summer:

"But, after figuring out they (the Dallas PD) couldn't do anything about it, they exited 75 and took the drive of shame to the donut shop."

These punks may live to regret this statement. Wouldn't a well placed tractor trailer have been fun to see.....or an attack helicopter..

Yeah, there's actually a lot the police can do about it.

Shame on the citizens who let them get away with it. This is why I like driving a beat up old Wrangler for a cage. You try blocking my access to a highway and if you don't have a badge your bike is getting ground into the pavement under 31" BFG All-Terrains.

Do you and Anvil even read what you're posting?  This is the kind of crap the ATF pulled at Waco.

Who said I'd kill anyone? I said I'd grind their bike into the asphalt.

And I never advocated the police doing anything outside of their authority. They have plenty of legal tools at their disposal to deal with peckerheads like this.

Trouble is, the FD would probly be the first there.  Folks are usually happy to see us when the FD shows up.  Maybe not so much in that situation.  Fire departments are not normally armed, maybe they should be though.  Seen a few bullet holes in fire trucks in my time.  Hoser  Shocked
