Finished front end job today.  00 I/S with new progressive springs, seals, bushings, and brake pads.  After carefully aligning forks the axle slid right in with no resistance.  Tightened up everything in recommended sequence (left pinch bolts, axle nut, bounced forks, right pinch bolts)  Installed factory pads and changed out brake fluid.  Just went for a 2 mile test ride and brakes stop great but noticed a slight dragging sound,  not enough to affect pushing the bike around in neutral but still audible.  Is this normal with new pads or am I going to have to tear down the calipers and put new seals in?  Will this hurt anything to ride it as is?  I have a weekend trip coming up if possible and know I can't get anymore parts installed before then.

Thanks,

Brad

the sound will most likely subside as the new pads wear to the rotors,,
i put ebc pads on once and the wife liked em cause when i would hit the brakes they sounded like crickets so she would know i was paying attention,,,

Had the same deal with my O E M pads. I M H O it's just the seating in process for the new pads. It won't take long for that new noise to go away. RIDE SAFE.

What causes the rear brakes to squeak?  Mine squeak (pads are new....well, fairly new).  They stop fine, just squeak.  Did I do something wrong?

Had my brakes done earlier this summer. The front ones squeak and squeal so bad a dog's head will explode at 50'. This is if I am lightly using them. If I'm using them in a hard braking situation, they are just fine.

There is some spray stuff you can get to quiet them down but it doesn't last but a few miles.

You can pick up a little squeeze package from any auto parts store that will stop them from squeaking.  You just apply this magic substance to the back side of the pads and it holds them to the caliper a little better.  Works great and it's only a buck or two.
