Actually it stands for Electronic Benefits Transfer; it replaces the welfare food stamps system making it easier and "less embarrassing" to use. |

Not the production they made but we have the misuse of that card right here in the ozarks. Wanna take a guess where they get food when the card runs out for the month?? Hint-it's the ONLY time i see some of these folks at church. Nuff said. RIDE SAFE.

back when i worked for werner a guy panhandles me in west memphis at the flying J. I'm wearing ratty tattered sweats, tennis shoes and a worn out hoody. HE's wearing nice, clean, denim jacket and jeans, work boots that obviously have never seen ANY work.
I just looked him up and down and said 'from the looks of things I should ask you for money!'

EBT cards were around durring the previous administration. So lets set the record straight,...i'ts not an Obama handout.
Welfare has been around since before I was born, and I am definately an aged baby boomer.
It is supposed to be a temporary help and not a lifestyle.

We had college kids that had these to get food and live off of. Even though they were going to college and working part time. They just started to encode them so they couldn't be used in ATM's at for instance the CASINO's.

I did the welfare fraud assignment as part of my career. A few facts about EBT cards you may nort know. They come with the cash money and food stamp money on the same card, so if you buy groceries it will automatically take things that do not qualify for the food stamps from your cash. Food stamps portion is (supposedly) enforced at the federal level. If you go by a "Food Store" that has very little food (usually ethnic food) it is usually a store that will give you fifty cents on a dollar to give you cash for the food portion so you can buy drugs or beer. Cool thing is you can track where the person buys their stuff. We had one person make state news using his EBT card in Hawaii. It also prevents you from getting food stamps etc in several states like people used to do. It helps when people live in one state and try to get benifits in a higher paying state. Needless to say it was a frustrating assignment.

It has all gone bad..... I have no problem helping folks getting up and moving on.. and making their life better...BUT....
The folks who are getting the free stuff don't like the folks who are paying for the free stuff,
because the folks who are paying for the free stuff can no longer afford to pay for both the free stuff and their own stuff.
And, the folks who are paying for the free stuff want the free stuff to stop.
And the folks who are getting the free stuff want even more free stuff on top of the free stuff they are already getting!
Now... the people who are forcing the people who pay for the free stuff have told the people who are RECEIVING the free stuff that the people who are PAYING for the free stuff are being mean, prejudiced, and racist.
So... the people who are GETTING the free stuff have been convinced they need to hate the people who are paying for the free stuff by the people who are forcing some people to pay for their free stuff
and giving them the free stuff in the first place.
We have let the free stuff giving go on for so long that there are now more people getting free stuff than paying for the free stuff.
Now understand this. All great democracies have committed financial suicide somewhere between 200 and 250 years after being founded. The reason?
The voters figured out they could vote themselves money from the treasury by electing
people who promised to give them money from the treasury in exchange for electing them.
and this is about the total extent of my political / financial posts....and why did I respond here anyway???? frustrated I guess....
