I had a running light go out on my IS left front turn signal. The housing and lens were new from last year as a set and had a bulb in already. I took out the screw from below. I carefully pulled out on the lens from the bottom. DIdn't want to come off then did. When I changed the bulb I noticed some tab inside the top of the housing had broken off. Shop manual does give an steps to remove the lens. The screw holds the lens on ok but it might not be sealed very well at top. It wasn't very cold out and wonder what I could have done different to get the lens off without breaking the tab. Maybe the post will help prevent this from happening to others.

The best method I've thought of is to pull the lens cap partially off at the bottom. Then squeeze the sides of the light shell deforming it into sorta of an oval which yields more space at the top and bottom. Then there's more room to slip the barb outta the mating notch. The only problem is that the light shell does not squeeze easily. The good news is that replacement lens are available for $7. Lens caps with the single screw on the bottom are generic on many Honda cruisers after '98 ('00+ with Valks). Breaking the light shell at the pesky 'barb' is a generic problem.

*The bottom of the lens cap poses its own problem. The integral tang at the bottom of the lens cap for the attachment screw .... if you tighten down the screw too much the plastic tang will break.

I will have to look and see what broke. The barb or the notch. Hoping the barb on the lens.
