You have some good photos's and certainly a sharp looking Valk. Are you editing/changing the look of those photo's? They look funny or altered? ???

Tundra;
I am always taking pictures of everything. Photography is my favorite pass-time. After I take a bunch of photos of the same thing with my cheapo camera,
I edit the photo album in Picasa. My camera is a cheese one... its raw product is very poor. Therefore, I do use Picasa to improve the clarity of the photo.

Yes, this Valk is exceptionally clean and nice, thanks to the P.O. All I did was to shower her with accessories.

Thank you for asking. cooldude

Hi,
You take some great shots, but, sorry, Picassa editing platform is way too limited. Regardless of what your camera is providing in quality Picassa edit results are eye burners.  Wink

Here's a FREE photo editing program that strongly rivals Adobe Photoshop.
It's an Open Source program, about 12 years young and still growing, it's build is contributed by many university computer science departments, like MIT for one.

Very powerful. It can be a little perplexing at first, but so can Adobe P Shop.

One important thing, never enlarge original photo's. If you must re-size only reduce them and keep them proportional to original. Set your camera to its highest resolution and work with that.

Play with this when you get some time: http://www.gimp.org Have fun...Search YouTube for tutorial video's, there's tons of 'em.

No insult intended...
P.S. nothing can undo what Picassa has done. If you saved the original files you good to go.

What is the deal with the bungee cord.... does it hold the bags on, or just rubbing the paint?   Grin  crazy2

Jess;
Here is the why and how the Bungies got there....

Background:
I like the looks of my hardbags, but but their max-carrying capacity is 10 pounds each. They are primarily for show and for basic lightweight items. Roll Eyes
Last month, I packed some stuff (slightly over 10 pounds) and went on a ride w/-the So.Cal VRCC folks.

During the ride, I hit a pot hole at slow speed, causing the bags to bounce... and one attachment bolt snapped off the bag.
So, I got this long bungie-cord and wrapped / tied it around both hard bags to minimize their bouncing and to hold them up in place.
The plan is ... err... was, to "soon" retrofit sheet-metal reinforcements inside the bags and do away with the bungies.
Thank you for your observations.

The following puts the "broader-picture" of my original post in context. Roll Eyes

Note their reverse chronology. The last photo was the first one taken . ??? The first few show that, AFTER the "Vanity-Photo-Session,"
the right saddlebag is damaged beyond repair.  Cry IMHO, sheet metal under this-specific circumstance would
not have prevented the hardbag's demise. A rear motorcycle tire would have! tickedoff laugh

THE STORY: in context... Embarrassed
As it happens in the Darkside,  she tends to "stand up" on her volition and then ever so slowly... she lays down on her right side.
If there are no obstructions, she'll lay on her side with no harm... Shocked (Ask me how I know this). ???

Well, yesterday I stopped on my way home and got an ice cream. As I walked back towards her, a large box-truck blew-by
and to the amusement of by-standers, freakin' oops... she "stood up" for cryin' out frikin' loud..WTF!!!:o
I knew she was about to lay down. NOTE: She never "falls." Generally she lays down gently, like a respectable lady...
She naps like my Black fat-cat, 'til I git 'round to waik 'er up. Roll Eyes crazy2 ... That's another fantasy...  Lips Sealed

But yesterday, she began leaning and just as I rushed to her, the right-side-bag "rested" on top of a brick planter... briefly "slowing" her motion... Shocked
Half-second later the hard bag snapped off under her weight, ripping itself apart ever so slowly and leaving a nice scrape on my leg...
followed by a matchin' pipe-burn. In the order of things, I now write with a badly stretched nerve in my right thigh. Sad Shocked Undecided

Her recovery...
Never mind my injuries... it's all about she-dragon.  ??? Cheesy 2funny

As always, there is absolutely NO sign of damage, other than the big-hard-bag was ripped into pieces by a tiny little brick. Lips Sealed

The hard bags are coming off and I will immediately install Custom Bullet Lights. They'll take-over the function of the now-gone
hard-bag-lights. She'll be naked for a period.

Meanwhile, if I saw a set of Black-Tourer Originals, I might be interested for a low-low-low price. Roll Eyes
I might also go for some beautiful
"tear-drop-style" leather bags that would follow the fender's contour from the front to the rear. coolsmiley

I'd welcome pictures of your saddlebag set up. I could then visualize how they might look on my Lady.

As Peter Lamborn Wilson once said, "Those who understand history are condemned to watch other idiots repeat it."
I think he was jabbin' me! 2funny

"If you have no intention of loving or being loved by your Fat Lady
then the whole journey is pointless."

Here's a shot of my bags.  My observation has been that being cheap now and then will get you cheap stuff.

That's an Avon Cobra on the rear.  More importantly the bike has not been lowered.   Smiley

Understand, and sorry for your troubles.

Those bags are identical in design/shape to the Yamaha OE hardbags I put on my wife's 1100 VStar (except no lights in them) (shallow, but very wide).  They were expensive and well made and had good mounts and would carry all you could cram in them.  Course we never dropped the bike on them (sorry)... and she had a very stout Baron's engine guard, but no rear guard of any kind.

http://www.starmotorcycles.com/star/accessories/acscitemdetail/5/19/95/434/all/1/3946/0/detail.aspx

I remember Momz or one of the MI crew had the same aftermarket (?) bags added to his son's bike (and we had the same conversation visa vis the Yami bags).

Interstates and Tourers have a rear guard loop down low... so if the bike falls over, the bike only goes over around 40-45 degrees, and the OE or most aftermarket bags would not hit.  This would seem to be a good addition to a standard with aftermarket hardbags (even if you did not get any of the remaining OE bag mount hardware).  I have interstates and lack knowledge of the standards.

#s 32 and 26, part of the OE bag mounts, I think.

"right saddlebag is damaged beyond repair."  That is just a scratch!   It may be totaled from a cost stand point but I'd fix it and ride on ! The factory bags are far from straight to begin with so a decent body man will repair it better than original...just not cheap  Sad

Jess;
I love the ones you show on the Black Valk.  Cool

The ones you installed on your wife's bike, do look identical to mine's overall design. However, given their price on your link,
and your testimonial 'bout how you handle them, they must be way SUPERIOR in quality. Mine were $295 plus $45 for shipping on eBay.
If I could find the same ones that I have, but w/o lights and at a similar price, that would probably be one attractive option. Cheesy

Mind you, I no longer ride long distances, so bags are there virtually for show... (and for fallin' over the ice cream stand whenever practical). Embarrassed
Like I said, I love those smooth Black-naked ones. But, they are priced higher than what I want to invest, at this time. Undecided

I'll just wait for some sick deal to come along. Roll Eyes 2funny uglystupid2

I understand about price.  I'm on a small fixed pension and now worry about hundreds, when I used to only worry about thousands. I'm pretty happy that counting down to retirement I tried to get every bike related thing purchased before I retired.

To me bags are necessary; one bag is nearly full all the time with tools, tire repair/pump, rain gear/ gloves, extra clothing, and a pistola that never leaves the bike.  The other side is half-full all the time too.

Keep looking for the golden deal, they do come along from time to time.

Thanks Don, but the two pics above are from the Tsukayu site to demonstrate their bags (not mine)

This is one of mine.
