I took a trip to New York a week ago.  I flew into Laguardia on Friday evening.  I drove to Oss' house on Saturday
morning and got there a little after 9.  Oss let me ride his BMW police bike, complete with shotgun rack, heated
grips, and ABS.  Oss rode his IS.  The first place he took me was the Croton Dam.  We went here last year, but the
water was not nearly as high.  Oss posted pictures of the Croton Dam back after hurricane Irene when the water was
dangerourly high.  The water was flowing so fast that a professional rafter died in the 40 mph + waters flowing
downstream from the Dam.  Here are a few pics of the Croton Dam from this recent trip.

A picture of the water flowing over the spillway and down under the bridge I am standing on.  Then the pic of the
water after the bridge.

This is the bridge that the first 2 pics was taken from, way down there....

Then we went to a park in Cold Spring out on the Hudson river.
This pic is taken from the park looking upstream on the Hudson.  The water is really muddy from all of the water from
hurricane Irene.

There is a cannon in the park that used to guard this portion of the Hudson. Here I am next to the cannon.

Then we went to the old Fort Montgomery that was a critical fort protecting us from the attacking British.  There
were huge chains stretched across the Husdon to keep them out and fiercly defended by ships.
This cannon was aimed at the river.  You can see the small boat in the background.  The next picture is one I
zoomed in on to show effect.

Sir Oss by the big gun!

The Fort Montgomery visitor center with displays and self guided tour to view the cannons down by the water.

West Point Soccer Staduim.  Football team played Air Force this day.

Look at the roof of the brown building...  Smiley

Ski lifts just up from West Point...all green, not like here where everything's brown and dead..  Smiley

New York from a long way off...

Oss taking pictures of me from a large rock.

Roads we traveled to get here and we will ride back down...

I kept saying to myself "This is NOT what I thought New York would look like...

Bridge over the Hudson.

We ate lunch at a place called "The Stadium Sports Bar".  There is more sports stuff in this place than any
other I have ever seen!

It was a great day for a ride, especially simce Houston has been 35 days with temps above 100 degrees!
Thanks again to Oss for the tour.  Wish G-man or Bonzo could have gone with us.

Thanks for the pics.  Kinda' like Michigan - you never get to see the beautiful areas on TV.  New York is more than the city.

That looks great...
It is nowhere near what I associate with New York.

I will visit Oss October 13th/14th.
Oss will let me ride his BMW police bike, complete with shotgun rack, heated grips, and ABS.  Grin

My wife and I visited NYC, in our F350 CrewCab dually. It was the only crewcab dually in the whole city, swollowed up by yellow taxi's and black Lincoln continentals. It's hard to imagine anything else arounnd NYC but traffic. Thanks for the post Jimmy, beautiful scenery.

If you are riding  and it is a must that you keep your eyes on the road, you are riding too fast.
