Ha! That's exactly how mine worked until about 3 years ago. Plus, I had the deluxe model that also washed dishes and did the laundry. Then on Christmas morning there was a box under the tree that contained a "new fangled electric version". The old one was super reliable but getting older and slowing down.  2funny
