Is anybody going on the "bikers with boxes" charity ride? On FB I see a lot coming from GA,SC,& NC. It brings Christmas to children who otherwise may not have Christmas. It sure is for a great cause and I'm looking foward to it. I just wonder how many Valks I'll see?  Cool

I couldn't find how to post a link but if you google 'bikers with boxes 2011' you will find it. Wink

Yes it is. We are going to the Billy Graham Library and drop off the toys. There is going to music, prizes and free meals. It's from 9:30 - 5:00 pm. Hope you can make it..at least that would be 2 Valks! Grin

That is my neck of  the woods, but I can't make it. I'm presenting a lecture at a conference this weekend. I present Friday but am hanging out on Saturday to hear a friend present. That'll take up my weekend. I'll be riding around Charlotte Saturday afternoon and heading home so I won't be able to make the ride.

Have fun and be safe.

My wife and  I are doing boxes this year with a friend's church. We're fans of that organization.

Sorry to hear that. I am also a fan and one of the very few I trust! I have never been to his library but seen an interview with Franklin showing the place and now my wife and I can't wait to go!

If you see a blue and cream 98 standard, give me a shout! 2funny

Take care and ride safe also,

My brother has been to the library several times and always enjoys it. I hear they put on a good event.

After watching the latest episode of "Sons of Anarchy"; the only boxes they had contained illegal guns, Meth, and cocaine.  Grin

Several years back a few clubs got together to give stuffed animals and teddy bears to a childrens charity, but the local police stopped the toy drive, confiscated all the toys, ripped open all those toys to search for illegal drugs. None were found and the toy run was cancelled as the "Outlaw Bikers" did not file the proper paperwork to have a charity drive.

About five years back ABATE of MI Reg. 15 had a poker run to raise money for childrens autism research. The autism research sent a representative to the VFW hall to refuse the donations because the researsh center thought it may be illegaly collected money and said that any monies donated by any motorcycle group would be refused and reported to the Federal Authorities.

I have to say it but there ia an old adage that says: "Do bad and no one forgets,...Do good and no one remembers".

In our neck of the woods charity runs are fairly common. Despite what SoA says, these are never gun running operations. When planned properly the police take part and help out.

I'm sure this will be  a fun trouble free event at the Billy Graham Library.

Thinking about it, I've realized that might be on my way home. Smiley

Now that is a sad commentary and the old adage must be true. As Big IV said that doesn't happen around here and hope it never does. I have been on a lot of rides where the cops were blockers and- never having to stop. It's hard to believe were are in the 21st century and people think bikers are all outlaws! There were outlaw bikers in the 40's but the Hells Angels in the 60's really put outlaws on the map followed by the real Outlaws and others that followed.

Now there are doctors, lawyers. ceo's riding there $40-$60k bikes wearing their bad to the bone pirate outfits! 2funny

Over a 1,000 boxes when I pulled in. They were hoping for a thousand bikes. Only two Valks in the entire place. Big T was there when I arrived. I spotted his bike but didn't know what he looked like. After eating hot dogs, touring the library, and getting ready to head out I spotted Big T on his blue and cream Valk. I'm glad he let me know that this event was happening.

It was nice meeting you Big IV. When I left, Operation Christmas Child had received 1200 boxes which exceeded their expectations. I really enjoyed the 2 hour tour it was awesome!

I'm glad you came and now I can say there were 2 Valks in the midst of 1000 Harleys!! 2funny
