I picked up a 4pc set if the bigboy ultimate seats and while I like the look and feel the drivers seat moves around a lot. I bought them used but called the company to see if maybe something was missing. Not sure who I spoke to but they said that was common to have a "little" movment. He said I would get used to it. Well I have had them some time now and am not use to it yet. I mean it does not seem to cause any problems while driving, just at times feels loose? Anybody have similar problems? I took the seat off and thought about maybe shimming to take up some of the movment. It is a shame to have this trouble cause the seat rides well.

The PO may have had an Interstate, that compresses the nose a bit and now it may be too short. Thre should be away to tighten things up....be creative

Seems like most of the movment is coming from the back of the seat, not the front. Maybe some sort of edge gaurd or something to take up so room

I have had three Ultimates on my Valk. One of them needed a little tweaking of the rear latch to fully engage. If it is not locked down right, you will get some movement...

Are you sure you even have the rear of the seat hooked into the rear fender catch? It's easy to miss and will look like it's in place but isn't. Just a thought!

+1 on this. When I first got my used seat, I didn't lock it in the rear fender catch and it had some movement on it. It took a few tries to get the "feel" for the catch but I still miss once in a while. |

OK got done watching the Cowboys give away another game and figured I would check the post. Really ? Am I sure I am getting the seat in the rear hook?  That's is too rich. I have had this seat for almost a year now and you ask if I'm sure its on right? Well just to make you guys happy I'll go check ....  yea you got it the rear catch was not engaged properly  I have been riding around for almost one year and did not even have my seat on right? I was going to asked about my front fork seals leaking but now I'm too embarrassed to ask anything. Guys thanks for all your help even if it points out how stupid you can get sometimes |

There's nothing stupid about asking for help. Most time's somebody has done the same thing at least once. You might as well start a thread about your fork seals. You could do a search and find a ton of threads about them. There's no such thing as a stupid question, and if you do ask one we'll let you know  |

We all had to ask originally, cheaper than learning by mistake. Glad you got it working for you, maybe we should start a thread on the Chat board about all the dumb mistakes ALL of us have made. That thread would last for months with no repeats. |

I have had three different Ultimates and found that they are a little tricky to get that back tab in correctly. Forums are for learning so keep asking questions. |

I am not afraid to say that my ultimate used to move around a bit also. It was absolutely in the slot correctly, there was just some play in there.
I did find a solution....I put some thick felt pads(commonly used on furniture legs) on the seat pan where it rides the frame rails. This took all the play out of it and it has never moved since. I have replaced the pads from time to time.
Although no baling wire or duct tape was used in this fix...I do proudly put it into the afore mentioned category! 5 cent fix for a $$$ seat!

bm51..... The only dumb question is the question not asked. You asked a very valid question. Trust me, folks on this board won't jump you for asking something.....what you will get is alot of help and answers to your questions. Sounds like several have had seat movement with the Ultimate but I am happy to report I am not one of them. On my second set of rider/passenger seats from Ultimate and have not had this issue with either. Sounds like the shim idea would work. Good luck on getting a fix.

Probably the majority of us with Ultimate seats have had this happen at one time or another including me. I'm just lucky enough to realize what happened. Marty |
