TOO FUNNY!  I visited a HD forum the other day to check out the other side and a lot of that video comes through in their posts.  One poster posted photos of his past bikes which were all metric and cursed nice ones at that - - Rune, VTX 1800, and a Goldwing.  You couldn't believe all the disparaging remarks from 90% of the posters.  "Jap crap" was the most common response.  Those tools have been drinking way too much HD koolaide.  As far as bike comparison reviews, they apparently only read HD marketing brochures.  They had little knowledge about other bikes other than "Jap crap".  As far as reliability, 100K seems to the pinnacle with only several engine rebuilds.

All in all, not a very inclusive bunch compared to VRCC and other like forums.

YMMV

Thanks for sharing that.  While's it really funny, I think there is a lot of truth in it unfortunately.

I have harley stock. I tellem its one thing to own a Harley, Quite another to OWN HARLEY.

In 2005 I noted the explosion of motorcycle riders here in Arizona.  The number of motorcycle registrations had almost doubled in the past five years.  Most of those were Harley’s.  I placed a buy order for HD stock in early 2005 and when it went below $50 the purchase was made.  I watched all the dealers in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area selling all those shiny HD bikes and all the new yuppie trying to be bikers riding them up to the bars in Cave Creek on Sundays and my stock kept climbing.  Then in October of 2006 one of the leather shops closed due to a lack of business and another owned by a friend of mine was reducing inventory and preparing to close after the Christmas season.  Both shop owners said that business had taken a dump.  I spent some time talking with my friend and he showed me his tracking of sales and the obvious decline in volume.  I also noticed a significant slowing in the home market in my area since many of these were purchased as secondary homes by snow birds, I figured that disposable income for discretionary purchases was becoming less available and this might impact the sale of new bikes.  In addition despite increases in gas prices, which traditionally increased the sale of 600-900 CC bikes in our area, the Honda dealer was selling less bikes.  After thinking this over I placed a sell order for my HD stock which sold in December of 2006 at $72.  My total profit after it all was around $8200.

In May of 2008 my Honda dealer had a nice used Valkyrie IS with 22 k miles which I purchased for $6900 cash using the proceeds of the HD stock sale.  The Valk price was at least $3k under market value at that time.  That is why I thank every HD rider for buying my Valk for me.

Sounds cool to me.

You don't reckon someone would like this because they hate Harleys do you?

I get more commnets about the Valkyrie I ride than my Harley.

But if it's just me going down the road and not me and the wife.

I prefer the Harley.

Two up I prefer the Valkyrie.

We are big people and 2 up we need the room.
