A bad map and a long ride in Northern New Mexico!

Jacksboro, TX

I had a great ride from Jacksboro to Fritch, TX (just north of Amarillo) this weekend.  I left Friday about 2:30 and got there a little after 7.   It has been so hot this summer, that I haven't ridden at all.  It felt good to get out and blow the dirt off the old gal.

I came back home yesterday afternoon in about the same amount of time.  I had a strong headwind, and of course gas mileage was at 26-27 mpg.  I give up on getting any better.  But I was running 75-85 indicated...so, I guess if you play you gotta pay.   I don't mind the fuel mileage as much as I hate stopping for gas.   I haven't got to the point that a belly tank is in the works, but I am getting closer!

Nothing exciting, just a good 600 mile ride and time to enjoy being on the Valk...

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Did you blitzgrieg up 287 or travel of of Texas finer chip seal roads.  I'd love to be home in Amarillo right now.  For me it would be a 1250 mile ride one way to get there.  Glad you got a chance to get out.

I did the 287 thing this time.  I have driven up there so many times, I just usually get there.  That being said, there are some nice routes around the backside of Palo Duro Canyon that I do like a lot.  I contemplated riding that way while heading home, but the wind was blowing about 30 and I didn't want to fight it.

The Big Texan has good food.  Their breakfast buffet is real decent also!!!

see ya'll
