This was before my first Valk. Also, it was several pounds
and a few haircuts ago!! 84 Chevy, 6 in lift. This is my trophy
for 2nd place in my first ever mud-drag.

This is what I built it for!!

Sometimes you win...sometimes the mud wins!!!

Loved to get out in the woods and play.

I had a 77 3/4 ton. Built 350 ci/350 hp 4:10s front and back 6 inch lift done without blocks, new springs at all four corners. 36/14.50/16.5 Swampers.
I miss that old truck. Got about 6 MPG. It was not as pretty as yours. It had plenty of battle scars. I would take it anywhere on a dare  Evil

My favorite was a 72 Land Crusher station wagon.  I had it lifted and ran 900-16 military tires.  It looked like it just came out of the Serengetti.  It had a PTO driven winch, big old straight 6, 4 speed and would go anywhere.  I really miss that truck, bought it new, and drove it a lot of trouble free years.  I sold it in Alaska and always wanted another, but Toyota turned it into a luxry mobile, and ruined it for me.

Your picture reminds me of back in the day (about 1974-1975) a bud and I were members of a 4x4 club. We were on an outing up in the mountains of NE Alabama and a member had a BRAND NEW Scout II the same color scheme as the one in your pic...it was only a couple days old and the first time he had it up in the hills. Long story short...he was trying to navigate a very steep hill and rolled it over three complete revolutions. He literally got out of the truck and cried  :'(

It's ok, mullets were legal back then. Besides, I think
this was before they were even called mullets.

I LOVE those old Broncos. You don't see many anyomre without the fender tubs cut because of rust.  cooldude

QUOTE: "I LOVE those old Broncos. You don't see many anyomre without the fender tubs cut because of rust."

MISUNDERSTOOD:
I love all 1975 and older American Iron. Mopar, GM... FoMoCo...old Broncos too.

We are lucky here in our neck of the woods. The sight of a rusty car, (old or new) is a rarity. When in LA traffic, the majority of rusty vehicles
would show out of state plates. Consider a word about oxidation in the South-West...

Say what one may 'bout Southern California; good, bad or indifferent...  tickedoff
Its dry climate and no rain for months on end makes for a virtually rust-free environment; unless you live near the Ocean.
It never snows in the LA Basin. It's truly a gold mine for finding the non-restored; the unmolested Vintage Motorcycle or Truck, etc... Cheesy

Having stated the above and regardless of whether there is rust, installing the 35" inch-plus size tire & wheels combo on many a short-wheel-base 4X4,
requires the wheel-well mod. Whatever. Sad

As for fun, Bashfulbob's ol' rig would do just fine by me! I love it. cooldude
