Both broke the law, the crotch rockets crossed a double yellow line, the truck driver lost it and tried to kill one of them.    what are your thoughts?

The bike may have crossed a double yellow line, I couldn't really tell, but before he got to the truck it started try and run him off the road. Shocked Kids lucky to be alive ... and I wouldn't have waited at the stop sign, I would have kept going to the next town.

Crossing the double yellow is illegal and so is riding at those kinds of speeds on public roads.

But that's what the cops are for. You do not combat that kind of behavior with equally stupid behavior in a vehicle even less equipped for those kinds of speeds. Chances are that dumb fish taco just had a boner for crotch rockets and having his pride wounded by being passed by them. If he gave a crap about public safety he wouldn't have become a menace himself.

You pull that crap on me you'd better also have a gun.

Get the plate #,
call it in,
get the hell out of it.

Ya go splatting some one with a bullet and your arse will be in jail longer than he would.

Two wrongs does not make it legal.

For all I could tell from the video is that I'd say he had a few belts that were running his brain.

In Ontario it is not illegal to pass on a double yellow line.  Yellow lines signify an advisory only.  The only exceptions are just before a curve, crest of a hill, 30m before a bridge or railway crossing.  Don't know what state this was in so their laws may differ.  If the lines are white then that is a different story, then it is illegal.

The bikes should not have been going so fast but the biggest bonehead was the driver of the truck.  That dude was seriously out of control, he should be charged with dangerous driving and attempted murder as far as I am concerned.

That bike had a couple of inches of pavement left. Attempted murder; that was so done on purpose.
I don't want to use the word retard so I won't. But I hope he gets what's coming to him, in spades.

I don't think the truck driver was just trying to "get close" and scare him.  He was really trying to take out that motorcycle.

Well thats good that he turned himself in.  However, just stopping behind him long enough to copy the plate and then get outta there without an altercation would have been more better

the guy inthe truck is a dick.  plane and simple.  who the hell gives him the right to try and be a police officer.  if i were on the cycle, i'd have went around him and gotten out of there, also, the two guys on cycles had padded jackets and helmets, they both could have beat the crap out of that guy in the truck even if he had a tire iron!!  the guy in the truck was more of a threat to trafic then anyone else, he was over the center line nearly the whole time!!

Call the cops and get the hell out of there. That's a disturbed person. No knowing what they will do.

What's the point of entering into conversation???

A Valkyrie rider (years ago) who will remain namelss was going to pass a station wagon in N GA when the driver closed the lane off. It was a double yellow. Instead of dropping back and letting the driver stay ahead the rider tried a few more times to pass. WHY, to prove a point? Quick way to DIE !!!

He eventually got by and then slowed down hard in front of the driver. Another quick way to die.

At this point the driver held what appeared to be a firearm in his left hand. I dropped even further back and eventually the nut turned off. I called the GA State patrol and they went and got him. The driver had pulled the same stunts previously. A clear sign to be cautious of the driver was that the tailgate of his station wagon was coverd in stickers of all sorts. Political and non political.

Seems like a VERY easy way for the rider or driver to end up with an extra breathing hole or 5. and for the tire iron vs riding gear comment, I've had a disagreement with a pool cue while wearing my fieldsheer jacket with ce armour in the back and shoulders. It still wasn't pleasnt and left a NICE bruise.....

Rider deserves a ticket.  Me too.  I've passed on double yellow, when like this rider, I could see it was clear, and that my bike had the omph to get 'er done.  But that doesn't make it right.

The driver of the toy truck deserves jail time for attempted murder.  And a license revocation for the wanton reckless driving after the attempted murder.  The driver may have seen any number of bikers that think driving laws don't pertain to them.  Tough.  Call the cops, petition the city council to have the cops beef up patrol.  He has no right to kill someone for a traffic violation.

I'm sure I could have easily convinced him swing that tire iron. He would not have had to turn himself in because the law would have picked him up at the hospital...I'd gladly pay the traffic fine.

Was coming home from a Fire meeting tonight on my scoot. Was on a county road and stopped at the highway I live on to turn. Car in front of me was stopped waiting for traffic to clear so he can go straight. Traffic cleared and he puts it in reverse. 4" between us. He packs up about a foot. I was almost about to pop it into neutral since I'm left handed. Had my .40 on my hip. Then he puts it in drive and peels out. I roll up to the stop sign and wait to see if he was gonna stop. I said to myself out loud, 'lets go mother f-er!' Told Kit someone about got 8 rounds into their car.  Evil

There is no doubt that was attempted murder. I've been unfortunate enough to run into people like that more than once. Once while traveling in the Richmond Virgina area on the interstate a pickup with dark tinted windows was angry that I was about to pass him and blocked the passing lane. When I got close (we were running fast) he started swerving into the shoulder to shower me with rocks. I've still got a divit in the paint of my front fender from it and decided it wasn't worth dieing just to prove I could pass him so I backed off and let it be. The wife hammering on my back at the time helped me make that decision.

Then, two years ago another pickup decided to race me as I passed him and tried to prevent me from reentering the driving lane before we got to a blind hill followed by a hard right hand corner. He had a fast truck too, I started around him at 60 and was doing twice that when I got back in the driving lane with him on my ass. It was amusing to see the canoes in his pickup bed slamming into each other in my mirrors when he couldn't scrub off enough speed to make the corner without nearly losing them.

In some states  what he did is considered assault with a deadly weapon (motor vehicle as weapon) and would be charged with such, deadly force met with deadly force would not be out of the question but difficult while avoiding the "attack".

In IMHO its not just the serious first offence (attempted murder) that's involved here -its what happened afterwards too. This was way disproportionate to the minor irritation of getting passed.... My guess is that the truck driver was wound up like a spring well before hand and this was just the trigger.

Anyone can lose their temper for a few seconds, but this just goes on and on...
