Had a bit of a fright. Bike in dealers to have brake overhaul and they have found one of the front calipers damaged (the actual body).

Bill for new Honda (Nissin) part?  $450!!!! Shocked Shocked

Waaaaat?? Shocked tickedoff

I knew something was wrong as very little stopping power. Inside where piston goes has been crushed and piston now hardly moves.

GREAT! Angry

Can't seem to locate any salvage parts over here. Cry

Try ordering here,,,,,  just a bit over $200 USD for the caliper assembly.

Yeah is that the price the dealer is giving you?

Yes, that's the price the dealer is saying - its the same at non-dealer parts places over here.

Real problem is availability. There are None in the UK, and apparently none in Japan.

I was really looking forward to having a few more rides before winter, especially as I've only just got the bike, but now it looks like several weeks wait. Sad

I see those calipers quite a bit on Pinwall.

In the fifty dollar range I recall.

Hedgehog ,it sounds like a bunch of Malarkey . but now they got the bike  in the shop with no brakes. should have taken it apart yourself. rebuilding a caliper takes 30 minutes at the most all you need is a kit and MAYBE new pistons .fine emery cloth works well to smooth all scrathes etc.
are they telling you the piston (s) are stuck in the calipers? there are many ways to undo them.
ghet the bike back home and do it yourself!!! cooldude

We take so much for granted living in the U S of A. 2funny And yes i realize we are trying to help a fellow Valkyrie rider. coolsmiley Wouldn't have it any other way. Cool My point you ask?? Any part for these fat girls we ride have a couple of very quick solutions. I live 22 miles from a full line Honda dealer. I have quite a few Valkyrie riders living an hour and a half away-3 to 4 hours away and some a couple of days away. Pinwall is on flea bay a keyboard away. Lotsa folks wanting to sell us stuff for our Valkyries a keyboard away with the bulk of them here in America. My hat is off to these fine folks who live across either pond and doing their level best to keep em running. uglystupid2 Next time a supplier tells you they need a day or two to get our/your part-think of our fellow riders and what they have to go through to get what to us is a rather simple purchase. Hedgehog-bro i really hope you don't miss too much riding. coolsmiley Hope you find the parts you are needing. Some one else already said it but i'll repeat it-check with the board BEFORE you give it to the stea- er dealer. crazy2 RIDE SAFE.

Thanks Old2Soon, Smiley

Your reply is typical of what I have come to know of Americans; big hearted and hospitable, like no one else on earth. My Mom spent 15 years over there and married three of you lot (rather careless I know), so you must be doin something' right! 2funny

This really is a great forum and just goes to confirm my feelings now I've got the best bike bike in the world. Guess these are some of the finest folks in the world too.

My (crash) hat off to you, Gentlemen.

Yes it can be a struggle getting bits for American stuff here. We've got a great motorcycle industry ourselves, so many people ride Triumphs or other Euro stuff like BMW's or Ducati's.

Its not too bad doing a deal by E Bay, but the postal service can take an age, and as for Customs.... takes them 4 days to check something (slower than it takes to cross the US AND the Atlantic) and then they slap on HUGE Duty.

I paid $80 duty on a $250 item recently. Robbery. police

Ride safe everyone. I don;t know how I'm gonna get through the next 2 weeks without Beloved, but I'm gonna try.

Oh the PAIN!! Cry
