I guess in a way Skynard is the typical southern rock band. The Allmans can also be classified as blues-rock or a jam band.

Marshall Tucker was always a favorite of mine too.

The Band ... the Weight 1969 @ woodstock live

While they're a mix of blues, southern rock, swamp-rock and heavy metal Clutch is about the heaviest thing out there these days.

I would'nt say my " favorite " but they do ROCK and I have all their CD's .The singer Frank Starr died in 1999 I've heard a couple things on this over the years ...He OD'd  Undecided   He died from a motorcycle accident after many weeks in the hospital  Undecided   and or all the above  Undecided
