My daughter just walked into the living room and said, "Dad, cancel my allowance immediately, rent my room out, throw all my clothes out of the window, take my TV, stereo, iPhone, iPod, and my laptop. Please take all of my jewelry to the Salvation Army or Cash Converters. Then sell my new car. Take my front door key away from me and throw me out of the house. Then disown me and never talk to me again. And don’t forget to write me out of your will and leave my share to my brother." Well, she didn't put it quite like that. What she actually said was, "Dad I have decided to work for Obama's 2012 re-election campaign."

Shocking. Absolutely surprizing.
(What you guys don't know is that his daughter is Sarah Palin.)
No worries then. She'll just quit soon after she starts.

Would a progressive liberal see any humor in this "joke"? Would they say that she sees beyond materal posessions and chasing the almighty buck versus the downward direction her country is headed where the rich get richer and the poor multiply? Would she see her father that she thought loved her "disown" her over his ideology of greed? Yet this joke gets a load of yuks from members of the family values party.
Maybe that's the twisted humor libs would take from this "joke".
Don't bite the hand that feeds you... If people don't need the "almighty buck" to be happy then why are the poor so upset?

Don't bite the hand that feeds you... If people don't need the "almighty buck" to be happy then why are the poor so upset? Corporate America doesn't feed anyone. Working people feed themselves by earning their bread. Having money (or at least an excess of it) is not critical to happiness. But it is a key component to survival. You're generally a lot happier when you are surviving.

Humorous discourse by an apparent conservative father about his apparent liberal daughter. But kudos to the daughter for "getting involved" in the political process and supporting something she believes in. Would like to see more of that rather than the squabbling and nonproductive antics going on with much of the political world these days.

Don't bite the hand that feeds you... If people don't need the "almighty buck" to be happy then why are the poor so upset? They are upset because they see their part of the American Dream of a home, well educated children and dignity of retiring with a penison that they could live on. What they see now, is our corporate controlled government standing by as pensions disappear, education is now so expensive, only the rich can afford the tuition. They see the income disparity in America is right down there next to Uganda and Central America. They see international corporations that that have moved jobs offshore and that will never come back with hundreds of lobbists fill they pockets of politicans that were elected to serve the people. Hope this helps. I work for rich people. I'm not poor because I don't want to be. I was poor once upon a time. I didn't care for it. I never graduated from High School (GED), I never went to collage, I never took a handout. I raised a family from the age of 17. I don't want to hear about how hard people have it. Buck up and do something for YOURSELF!! The poor aren't worried about the corporate lobbyist. They worry about themselves and their family. Government regulation is killing industry. I listen to my rich people (employer) all the time. If they have tax breaks on anything they take advantage of it. Buying new equipment, hiring more people, we have a new line on hold waiting to see what is going to happen. I Love rich people. They sign my paycheck every fn week, and sign my bonus check once a year. We could tax them more but i fail to see how that would be better for my family.
