Winter is coming, and there's storage and prep issues to consider; but I'm thinking of the spring and the open road. I ride long range hiway on weekends, and once every summer I ride to my Mom's place in Ontario, 2500 miles each way, and I have to ride in whatever weather presents itself. This July I had to ride for two days in rain, sometimes heavy rain; standing water on the road and fog. Fun, fun, fun.
So just wondering what would be the best front tire for general hiway mileage, but best traction in wet conditions? I have a Dunny D404 rear bias on the front now, and it kept me alive this summer; but will need a new tire by next summer. CT on the rear is great in the rain, but I worry about losing traction on the front.
What's the group's experience say about good wet weather front tires?
Fred.

I'm running my 4th D404 front. I have no complaints but my riding style has calmed down as I have aged. Rode cross country twice and rode a few times in heavy rain on unfamiliar roads with no issues.

I ridden in some pretty heavy rain and the Metzler on my Tourer performed admirably.  It's got an Avon Cobra now but I haven't been caught in a heavy rain with it.

D/S rear and metz 880 up front. Wet and/or dry no issues. The metz is holding up very nicely thank you very much. 2funny RIDE SAFE.

I currently run a backwards rear on the front and had it in some of the hardest  rains at 70 mph. I've read a lot on this subject and came to the conclusion that most tires perform well in the rain as long your not driving fast in deep water. No tread design, rotation or tire brand will help in deep water at high speed

I'd say the best tire for the rain has to be found here....

My Avon Cobra front works well in the rain, as did an Avon Venom two tires ago.  The Dunlop E3 I had before the Cobra gave me a fright a couple of times by slipping slightly in corners in the mountains between Lake Louise and Revelstoke.  I wasn't scraping pegs, but I was riding harder than a typical cruiser rider would be.
