Since you've got to muss with the radio unit to get to the battery, make sure all the connections are tight and nothing got knocked loose.

Also, install a battery tender lead on the battery so you can maintain it and charge it w/o having to muss with the radio.  cooldude

Happy Thanksgiving to all Canadians.....

Thank you, and a Happy Thanksgiving also. Heading out in a few minutes to family for dinner.

As for your problem. It does sound like the suggestion give already. Since the battery is under the radio/cables, maybe the controller cable came loose. Even if not, I would unplug them all and plug them back in.

Where are you? There may be someone close that can have a look. I've reset the radio controls several times, and it would be very hard to describe in a message.

yep. unplug and replug the radio plugs by the battery.
and i have forgotten if the radio needs to be on or off. try both ways.
also with the radio turned off  spray some electrical contact cleaner into each switch(don't take it apart)
work switches and try again.

worked for me cooldude

I know this sounds stupid, turn it on. Made the same mistake, button on the left just above the push to talk. If the battery is disconnected, the radio reverts to off, when the battery is hooked back up need to turn it back on.

Ya, any time I plan on disconnecting the battery I jumper the bike cables with another battery so all the radio settings remain.

If it (radio) was working properly before then it should work now.

Nothing catastrophic should happen when you remove the battery.

Sounds like there is more involved than meets the eye.

All the previous comments (suggestions) are "right on" and ought to be tried out. All of them. Don't discount the obvious.

The guy I bought the bike from installed a after market alarm and told me he took the power from the right signal light for the alarm and even thought i disconnected the battery and hook everything back up should still work but right now no radio or can't set the clock the clock is on just can't set the right time on it....but like i said hopefully this weekend i'll have a chance to try everything that was said in here and will report back when i get a chance......thanks for all the help guys and girls....

How long should i have to push the radio button to make it come back on will try that and make sure all connection are good....

Momentarily!

Holding the off/on button for too long will put the radio into aux mode.

You should at least (and especially) get an owners manual for the bike.

if you cant find the problem . you might want to investigate the orange splice block post on the forem. intermitant radio control has been linked to this block.

An iterstate owner's manual has a section on the instruments and radio and clock along with the CB, if you have a CB.  Hoser

The display should show AUX, if you are in that mode. No input from your "AUX" devise, so you have no sound from the speakers.

I don't remember if Dag has a posting on the DL page of an owners manual.

Pressing that same button cycles through the modes.  If you have a CB, it will cycle through radio with and without CB on, AUX with and without CB, and CB without either on.  If you have no CB, it will just cycle through radio and AUX.
Press and hold the button for a second or two to turn it off.

Bottom line is that there are a lot of functions with not a lot of buttons.  The manual really helps.

We all learn from experience, I changed the battery a couple years ago, took a couple days to figure out what happened.
