Power port/Ciggie lighter

Do you guys generally connect them switched with the ignition, or straight to the battery? I can see pros and cons to both. Just don't know if there is some type of defacto standard.
I can do the wiring either way, I have a relay and understand it fully.

I have a cheap one wired directly to the battery through an inline fuse. That is about the extent of my electrical skills.

I guess my overly paranoid persona foresees some crazed vandal fooling with my 12v while I'm having lunch.
Was thinking straight to the battery with a fuse should be fine.

Mine runs through my aux fuse panel which is relay controlled from the accessory circuit.

My power points and USB ports are on a fusebox with relay from the Aux leads, so only on with the key. My cig lighter is direct to the battery so I have one power point to use with my compressor etc. If you're sure you will dissconnect whatever is plugged in, no relay needed, but I've left my GPS and Ipod connected several times, so am glad the power is keyed.

Power Port(s) wired directly to the battery and fused. I use them to charge my cell phones or use the GPS.... and I don't want to have the key on or bike running all the time I use either the phone charger or GPS. I have one power port up front for the GPS and one near the rear pass seat so "she" can plug her or my phone if if need be. I also use it the charge my camera or cell phone when I am stopped eating or otherwise.... and in that case it also needs to be direct wired.

+1 , you can use the accessory plugs, which are switched with power on, under the right side cover, for the relay trigger. Best of both worlds, IMHO.
