I know alot of guys on here either own Wings or have owned Wings so I thought I'd ask this question here.

Check this video.  It's my buddy's 2008 Goldwing.  He got it used, but it only has about 4000 on the clock.  He says it runs fine, gets good milage and otherwise has no problems.  However, it makes this really weird sound.  Kinda like a belt to tight kinda noise.  He seems to think it's normal.  I'm looking at my Valk and then look at his Wing and their the same motor except for displacement and fuel-injection.....right?  I've never heard a Valk make this kinda sound.  I haven't been around too many Wings lately, but I don't ever remember a Wing making this sound before.  Is this normal?

Anyway......take a listen and tell me what you think.....

New member here...  That sounds exactly like my 06 Wing... Sounded that way since only .5 miles on it.  The 1800 Goldwing doesn't have timing belts... The cams are chain driven.  Ride it like you stole it...

I went with some Winger friends to Helen Ga for a regional Wing Rally.  It was more like a Boy Scout Jamboree.....we spent very little time at the rally site; riding was more fun.  But when we came back for dinner (was already paid for) we were walking to the dinner and all of sudden I thought aliens were invading or something......4 or 5 1800 wings came up from behind us as we walked and you couldnt hear anything except that sound on your video X5 it was really weird

I have an 03 wing with 61000 on the clock. Made that same noise from day 1. Appears to be in the altenator area. Most have more or less the same noise. A very few are relatively Quiet.

Back in the 90's I had a Honda 750VFR. The camshafts were gear driven and sounded very similiar to the Wing. Loved that sound! I also miss the bike. Talk about responsive and fast!

I run with several friends who own 1800's. Many sound that way.

Sounds like a sewing machine. Perfectly normal for a wing.

Just like others have said.  That sounds like every other 1800 I've been around.  That sound was just about the only thing you could hear on my dad's 2002.
