I just installed my new Progressive 430 11.5 inch shocks and she sits nice and low. Will be slipping the forks also.  My next step is I want to install a Yokohama A048 205/55 Darkside tire.  I assume I will have to do the nut cage mod and maybe the fender washer thing.  Will this setup work with the car tire?  I have an '03 standard and ride mostly solo.  Pics are appreaciated.

Do you have the A048 Yoko?  Can you post a pic?  Did you slip the forks also?  What mods did you do for the tire?  Im 180lbs. Thanks.

I have stock shocks and 55 car tire Lowering makes kickstand bracket more likley to hit on speed bump or going into a shed or trailer with a ramp. I mangled my kickstand cross member hitting a bump. I was guilty of going to fast on a bumpy road.

Only two people have used a car tire and shorter shocks????????????????  Need more feedback before I spend the money.

have at least 10,000 miles with car tire, short shocks, 5/8 slipped tubes. have rode single and two up with full bags and luggage.  Need to bend kickstand to lean the bike over enough on a sloped parking spot

I got my 430 11.5 inchers on and slipped the forks 5/8 also.  Car tire is on the way.  What length shock do you have?

I think they are the same lenth as yours.  got them in Sturgis several years ago and they were about 1 - 1  1/2 inces shorter than stock.  Used to ride two up with full bags my teenage son and both of our duffels on behind. nut cages taken care of.  No problems

Just got my Yokohama A048 205/55 tire today. Man it looks really big.  Will be working on the Darkside change over.  How much grease are we supposed to put on the splines?  Light coating or heavy?

Stealers , I raised my shocks all the way up 4 th setting on my std with the  55 car tire and she handles better than before when set at the 2nd setting  WITH NO PROBLEMS AT ALL remember to be safe you will have to do the nut cage mod .... I know a few people who adjusted their stock shocks all the up and they said it handled better so I did it .... my old 98 stock shocks are going to be replaced with some progressive HD 440's  13 " real soon  along with the prog front springs .... riding two up with stuff and pulling a trailer I need all the help I can get ..... Thanks Old Geezer Richard
