Ok, I'm looking to replace my fullface helmet over the winter. My current one is a HJC CL15 Dragon. Its been a good helmet, but is now 7 yrs old (2yrs past the recommended replacement schedule) Am looking at the new HJC Symax III, anyone familiar with this one. Or have any recommendations of others to look at? I'm not brand specific, but HJC is one of the few manufacturers that makes helmets big enough to fit my pumpkin.

Had a symax 2 and was happy with it. Now looking again also and am looking at the symax 2 BT which is blue tooth ready. Good helmets for a goos price. Guy on our Knoxville has some symax 2's without blue tooth for $100 listed. Authorized dealer clearing inventory. That's a firesale price http://knoxville.craigslist.org/mcd/2647503399.html

Earlier this year, I replaced my HJC 'modular' helmet with a Nolan 'Trilogy'. The modular was my foul/cold weather helmet and did everything I asked of it. The problem was is that in nice/warm weather I loved my HJC 1/2 helmet, and taking the modular along on a long trip, took too much space. Did some research, and found the Trilogy... Best of all worlds (IMHO), in that it can be configured as a 'full' face, a 3/4 with the full bubble, a 3/4 with a visor, and it has a built in, flip down sunshade. In full face mode, the face bubble offers a huge vision improvement over my modular, as the removable chin bar is lower, and thinner than the modular chin part. I've used it all season, and stowing the chin bar and face bubble is much easier than trying to figure out how to pack a full helmet. I've ridden 75% of the time in the 3/4 mode, and the other 25% was split between the 3/4 mode with face bubble, and the full face mode, with the chin bar in place. I like my music while riding, and my Koss ear buds fit very well, in all configurations. Got mine for about $250 on line. I got a big ol' Jug Head too, and the XXL fits. I have a SYMAX 2 and would not recommend it because if you want to ride with the face shield up it makes a whistling sound that will drive you nuts.

It's not designed to do that. You should look into the Nolan or scorpion mentioned or a shark evo.

I have the Sy-Max 2, and I really like it. It's very comfortable, and I like the retractable sunshield.
