Having ridden with Joe and the Wild Bunch I can say it will be a good ride. Joe always does an excellent job at route planning, plenty of stops for gas, pics and cigs, Although he rides hard he is constantly checking his mirror to make sure the group is together and safe. Wimp and I are trying to slow him down a bit; as the old farts in the bunch, our reflexes and eyesight aren't as good as the younger ones. Pray for good weather for that weekend. There will be a lot of festivities going on celebrating Veteran's Day. Dubs

I just figured I'd bump this back to the top since it was kinda getting buried...page 8...WTF!!! Anyways, the 10-day forecast on weather.com now runs through Thursday, 11/10/11 and, even though we had a couple inches of snow this past Saturday , it is looking like the weather here in southwest PA may hold out and be good enough to make this ride after all. Forecast for next Thursday is sunny with a high of 53*F and a low of 45*F. That's far enough above freezing to not have to worry about ice. That's quite a ways out there considering the weather guys have a hard time predicting tomorrow's weather, but I'm still keeping my fingers crossed!!

Although he rides hard he is constantly checking his mirror to make sure the group is together and safe. We all should ride our own rides, and nobody should depend on others to look out for them, but I know I have benefited from his attentiveness a time or two... -Mike

I'll be coming down from Michigan either Thursday night or early Friday morning to join up with the VRCC group. Brother - in - law and his wife are meeting me in Dickson to visit for the evening. Only one in my wife's family that still talks to me after all these years (no great loss). Supposedly no room at the inn at Exit 182.
See you all then.

I have a single, but I'm willing to sleep on the floor and split the room if someone wants to be with the group that missed getting a room. I haven't gotten a straight answer from my wife whether she is coming or not. My best guess is that she's not, which is why I'm offering up the room to split for anyone that wants to think about it and PM me if you're interested.

Sure would be nice if these mid 60 days hold on for alittle while longer. The weather right now 10 days out from the ride is perfect for motorcycling.

I have a single but could split the cost if it meant someone else could get a room. I've slept on the floor before. I'm really looking forward to this ride. I haven't ridden with my friends since Inzane and it will be good to see and ride with them again. My new darkside tire is riding like a dream so far and this trip will be a good opportunity to get some more miles on it. I guess I will have to go to the darkside forum and sign up 'cause I'm hooked now. Gotta teach a class this weekend at Pellissippi State but next weekend is all mine! Dubs

I don't think so. For my route, I mapquested it and they run me out I70 to Cincinatti, then south through KY and into TN (575 miles, 9hr 15mins). But that ride out I70 sux. So I'll probably take I79 south thru Charleston, WV, I64 thru Lexington, KY then south on I65 towards Nashville, then I40 towards Fairview, TN. Mapquest says that route is about 625 miles and a little less than 10 hours, although it will likely take me longer on the bike. Routing through Knoxville is about 700 miles and 11hrs. If it were June or July, I might do it, but in November...not so much. Since I'm planning on making the trip in 1 day, I'll be leaving early Friday hopefully 6am or so (7am at the latest) to try and get there before dark. The bad thing leaving that early is the deer...so I'll be keeping my eyes peeled.

10 day forecast is looking good for the piss poor state of IL. Highs in lower to mid 50's, hopefully the weather gets the rain out o its system earlier in the week. Really looking forward to this ride and a BIG tension release from school.

I'm in Lafayette,IN tonight and drove in the rain out of middle Georgia this morning and its never stopped. 50's ain't bad ridin' weather if it's not raining on top of it...Hope it works out Preston as this one is looking like a ride not to miss

You know how Gordon is ??? He has a bed if needed . He went out with us last night for supper and had some dental work done yesterday so I guess I'll know when we hook up this morning.I'm loaded and gettin' ready to roll out. I've been looking forward to this ride and we should have a nice group I'm guessing 15 to 20 bikes for tomorrow's ride to Land Between The Lakes.I'll have 10 bikes with me if Gordon goes leaving east Tennessee.

I rolled into work this morning with all my heated gear on, to make sure it works... I can't make it for the ride, but I have a room at the hotel on Saturday night... I froze for 3 hours in North Georgia last March on the way to Texas, I won't be cold in the morning Ride Safe everyone... -Mike

Since I didn't show up Friday, the man from the motel called me to verify that I still want my room for Saturday night... I asked him if my buddies were there and if they were having fun... he kind of laughed and said "yes, they are having fun..." -Mike

Since I didn't show up Friday, the man from the motel called me to verify that I still want my room for Saturday night... I asked him if my buddies were there and if they were having fun... he kind of laughed and said "yes, they are having fun..." -Mike I couldn't hardly understand anything those people said. I had a heck of a time cancelling my room. I'm still worried I'll be charged because of the laguage gap.
