Just got the information below from Mac ( Crazyhorse ) on the Veteran's Day Weekend Ride...We'll ride in Friday evening 11-11 and do the ride Saturday 11-12 ....You need reservations for friday 11-11 and saturday 11-12.Motel is in Fairview, Tennessee 20 miles west of Nashville see information below to make reservations. http://www.nps.gov/fodo/index.htmhttp://www.betweentherivers.org/towns/goldenpond.htmlhttp://www.lbl.org/http://parks.ky.gov/parks/resortparks/lake-barkley/default.aspxThe ride will be just over 200 miles. The first stop will be in Dover we will top off the bikes. Then we will visit Fort Donelson (spend about 30 minutes to hour there). Kickstands up and head up the Land Between the Lakes Trace stopping at Golden Pond visitor center. Leaving the center we will head to Lake Barley Lodge State Park (Kentucky) for a buffet lunch ($8.00). After lunch we take some nice back roads to the motel. We should arrive back at the motel around 4:30. If the weather goes south on us I have a shorter route planned. When they call for a room ask for the Veteran's Day Ride rate $45.95 motel is Deerfield Inn & Suites 615-799-4700 exit 182 @ I-40 . I'm going to try and make this ride...so I booked a room. I ain't never been to TN. Coming from PA in mid-November may be a bit sketchy, so the weather will be a big factor in whether I can actually make it or not. Plus at nearly 600 miles each way to motel, its pretty far. But having not ridden much this year due to my back problems, I really could use a good ride like this now that my back is alot better. So lets keep the fingers crossed for at least decent weather. One thing is for sure...Gerbings will definitely be in use. I guess now I'll have to change out that back tire...  |

I hope everyone has a great weekend ride and that the weather is good for all of you. It probably goes without saying but,,,, Keep a close watch on the right of ways for deer. The roads here have been littered with deer for the last few weeks especially. Must be a bumper crop of yearlings or something.

Just got off the phone with Mac ( Crazyhorse ) he rode down to the ground zero motel today ( Deerfield Inn ) and they have ( 6 ) single rooms available ....If you MUST have a double room this motel Fairview Inn is less than a 1/4 mile just across I-40.....

It's right at 200 miles for you if you ride the super slab and a straight shot to Fairview.If its cold that weekend and she's never been on a bike plus having back pain....Maybe you should talk her into not coming and break her in on nice warm day short rides around the house. |

Hindu Hilton...LOL!!! I've got a non-smoking double because a buddy of mine said he's interested in riding down with me. But he's notoriously unreliable on these sorts of things. Not all his fault. Mostly its his job plus he's a single dad and all. But if I find out for sure he's not coming, I'd be willing to trade to a single room, especially since its 50-50 at best whether I'll make it due to the mid-November weather up here in PA. On the positive side, I did mount up a fresh Altimax this weekend. |
