The Twilight Zone

« on: October 18, 2011, 06:29:43 PM »

When I first got my Valk in March it started fine and the choked worked. Here lately with 70* temps I have tried what the manual says and push the choke all the way and doesn't crank. I turn the choke off, twist the throttle one time and it cranks and if I fully depress the choke then it speeds up like it supposed to. Also I have trouble around 75 mph and give it full throttle it hesitates and if I back off the wick just a hair she starts to speed up slowly and takes a long time to hit 100.

Any ideas? Undecided

Thanks

First I would get some SeaFoam or Techron and add to the gas.  Go for a 5 mile ride to get it into the carbs and then leave it sit overnight and let the additive work.
Also, twisting the throttle with the engine "not" cranking does nothing because the carbs do not have accelerator pumps.  When cold, and with the choke on, try opening the throttle slightly while hitting the start button.  That always works for me.  I hope it clears up for you.  Smiley
