Is it OK to use two different iPods on the same iTunes software. Want to copy all my songs to a friends iPod. Will it harm my saved music?

I think I should have no other mortal wants, if I could always have plenty of music. It seems to infuse strength into my limbs and ideas into my brain. Life seems to go on without effort, when I am filled with music.

No problem. The only thing would be if your iTunes is set to sync music, podcasts, etc, you could wipe out some of the music, podcasts, etc. on the friend's iPod. It would not affect your music.

Brian, Your friends iPod will be "synched" to your computer alone. If he hooks it to another computer, it will erase everything you've loaded onto it. I've got two iPods, one synched to my computer, and another synched to my son's Mac computer. Either one gets hooked up to any computer other than its original host will erase its contents. But it will do nothing to your iPod playlist. The friend just needs to get you all his CDs to rip into your library, then you both get all of each other's tunes.

I do not believe this is necessarily true. With the cheapest iPod shuffle (and maybe some other bottom line models), the iPod is synced or matched to a single computer. However, the newer, more expensive models of the iPod can be connected to a number of different computers, downloading the selected music, videos, etc., from each computer. My son has music and videos on his iPod from our home computer, his laptop, his cousins' computer, and probably half a dozen others at school. I have media on my iPod from both my home computer and my office computer. So long as the iTunes program on the computer is not set to automatically sync by default, hooking an iPod to a different computer will NOT erase all the media in the iPod (again, with the exception being the original shuffle and maybe some other bottom line iPods).

The wife just told me that wont happen if you set your itunes to manual sink only, auto sink will do that.

Maybe things have changed since I bought my first iPod years ago. I'm going to have to check that out.
