i am trying to access the photos of the starter button in shop talk. however, there is no pictures.  am i doing something wrong?  Cry

Just want to add a couple of thoughts about the switch pictured.

The picture captioned (Bottom Side) shows way too much lubricant which it totally unnecessary and can prohibit good contact between the points under cold weather conditions. Very little to none is whats needed here.

The picture captioned (Moveable Contact) shows the spring loaded contact. The melting is (can be) caused from poor contact causing resistance and heating. Continuous cranking (or too many lights on the circuit) is most likely the culprit.
This is the part that needs the most attention. It needs to be able to slide up and down easily with the spring underneath doing the work. Mishandling this little part, and the small spring under will render the switch inoperable. Again, lubrication is not necessary for this part so if you must, go very lightly.

I just wanted to add that these are some great pictures of the switch and the inner workings.
