We (Binkie, Gig, and I) left MoTown around 9:00 on Thursday, fought traffic on I-75, and rode in the rain from Dayton, OH to Richmond, KY where we stopped for the night.  The first day sucked, but at least we weren't at work and it only got better from there.  On Friday we ditched the slab at Mt Vernon and first stop was Cumberland Falls
Upper Falls

Binkie at lower overlook

Falls from lower overlook

Rode 27 south, MUCH better than the slab and made our way to the Cherohala Skyway where we bumped into these nice folks from Atlanta that wanted to discuss Valks and Motorsickles in general.  That's Gig and I on the wall

Met up with the usual suspects Friday night at the Phillips Motel, found out what time to meet in the morning then headed to the Two Wheel Inn, since the Phillips was full.  Showed up at the pre-arranged time, worried about being late, but didn't need to worry.  Must have been something in the water at the Phillips, cause a lot of folks showed up after the agreed upon meeting time, and quite frankly, they looked a little under the weather.  After riding around, loosing a few of the group, we met for lunch, got everyone back together, had lunch, then everyone split up again.  Joe's group ended up at the something fields,

then off to the Cherohala, but first a stop at the falls where Binkie was spied asking Santa for a Valk for Christmas this year

And Santa told me I would NOT be getting the Tourer I asked for since I was a BAD BOY, (Steamer isn't getting one either)

More of the usual suspects

And finally a shot at Ozone Falls?? I believe on the way home.

This was our first FCR, but will definitely NOT be our last.  The weather was great, the people were even better, and the riding was awesome.....  AND we weren't at work.  It don't get any better.

Thanks to all who made it happen.

Hey Steamer. I liked your night ride video, a whole different perspective.  Keep up the good work.  Maybe next you could post a night video of one of your beading runs. Grin

- the ride back was thankfully uneventfull in that regard. Joe said I was just showing off...   coolsmiley I learned not to do a U-Turn the wrong way in a one way lane on wet, painted pavement  uglystupid2
I also learnt that as you are falling off your bike, it is possible to stay on by wildly twisting the throttle!  Shocked

Skinhead: Thanks for the pics! I am glad I got to ride with you guys - I had a great time! Glad we went to Cumberland Falls to see the rainbow, and glad we took Joe's advice to see Ozone Falls. He has never steered me wrong  cooldude
Next time, Binky does NOT get to pick the motel - my room had blood spray all over!  tickedoff
Looking forward to next year, if we can just avoid ohio crazy2

Don,

It's always a treat to see you and your lovely wife.  And the really cool thing is, she usually packing something tasty to munch on.  The rum cake was great.  I'm looking forward to the next time.
