My mechanic said i need my carbs rebuilt. Said i need new needles, seats, and floats. This bike sat for 3 years just wondering where is the best place to get these parts from. Im going to have him rebuild everything in them when he does it including going to the #38 jets

For the less than $10, buy some carb cleaner, add it to half a tank of new gas, and run the bike at low RPM, so it cleans out you slow jets.

Do that before you think about spending $100's to a mechanic, for a job that most likely doesn't even need doing.

My first bike had sat for 6 years! New gas and battery, oil change, crank it over, turn it to run, and it started in 10 seconds. Road it for a year with out any trouble, or even knowing about using a fuel additive carb cleaner.  Honda CM250 got 72 MPG (UK).

Hope you have a good mechanic.I would listen to gordonv before spending up to $500 .Most "mechanics" don't know how to work on valks.I speak from experence .I do all my work myself now after wasting over $1000 on an expert

He has already had it apart once to clean the carbs with an ultrasonic cleaner and said 2 of the floats seemed like they were not floating right. He use to be a honda dealership mechanic before he quit that to build race engines for pulling trucks.  He does it on the side for cheap. He only charged me 125 for cleaning them the first time. As for the carb cleaner, i have done that multiple times this summer with no results. Figure its time to break down and spend the 500 dollars in parts and just have it done.

As far as new needles....unless you somehow damaged them physically it is very doubtful that you should need to replace them.  I don't believe you can just replace the seats on these carbs...I may be wrong, but I don't think that is possible.

I don't trust what you were told.  You can replace the floats yourself if needed.

There's nothing about the carburetors that a good cleaning will not solve.

The BS about rebuilding the carburetors is just that! BS  The guy is living in the past!
