I have owned the 99 IS since 2003. Last year, after the bike had set for 6 months, I had to replace the water pump. It was leaking out the weep hole.
Back to Florida after the bike setting for 6 months again, now this water pump is leaking. Is there a repair or is it an automatic replacement.

I've heard it's mostly the o-rings leaking. Unless you have had the wrong anti-freeze in the bike, that most likely is all you need.

I did mine on my GW GL1100. Coolant from the weep hole. After the job, it was a couple of drips a day. Year later, nothing.

Don't forget to drain the motor oil also!

Mine will leak sometimes if it is set up too long. I have been lucky that after I start it and run a day or two it'll stop leaking. You might just want to take it for a ride.

And don't forget there are many good products on the market that are made for problems of leaks in the cooling system.

I've been using one in my Interstate for years with no ill effects.

Save yourself some money also!

dougger....i also have a 99 (it's a c-t) that i have put numerous h2o pumps on....i think part of the problem is that these h2o pumps have been sitting on a shelf for 10 years or more, and the seals are drying out.  mine will leak out of the weep hole every once in a while, but after you ride it for a few miles it will quite weeping.   you can replace it if you want, but i think if you put a new one on you are probably going to have the same weep.  just ride it.

Ricky, What are you using

I use "Bars Leak" - "Liquid Aluminum" Same bottle for years, Use just a little, like a couple of tablespoons full. Follow the directions.

A couple of times I had the coolant recovery line clog up which I cleared with some heavy duty mono line that is used with string trimmers. Pretty easy to do.

I'm a very satisfied user of the stuff and was originally turned on to it from the main tech guy who was working for Honda at the time.

Reading now about the rarity of new radiators if available at all, and the poor chance of getting a good useable one from Pinwall (the have a disclaimer I don't like), this seems like the best avenue for me to keep on.
