I am planning to add a trailer hitch to my IS and at first just carry a cargo (cooler) rack.  I will be putting a stop tail and turn signals one and was wondering which converter I need.  I have seen some of the shop talks and want to do the easiest, but I guess also want to be able to maybe pull a trailer later.  Does it matter what kind of lights I am adding,  multiple bulbs or filaments?
Thanks, Loafer

I put one of the 4 pin converters that switch foreign cars to work with american trailers.  Got it on ebay for about $10.00.  Works great.

Hoppy makes a powered converter that uses battery power to light up the trailer. Solid state relays in the converter do the job. Part # is 46255. It's a 5-4 wire converter. Uses the standard UHaul plug.
