A bad map and a long ride in Northern New Mexico!

Jacksboro, TX

My wife and I had been trying to plan a weekend long for several weeks, but we just weren't able to pull it off.

We decided to just do a nice day ride today and enjoy the beautiful weather we are having in Texas right now.

We left this morning rather late and drove south from Jacksboro, TX down US 281.  There was a fairly decent head wind, and as usual, my throttle hand and the thirsty Valk dispersed a bit more fuel than I like.   We rode around Stephenville, a nice little college town and then headed south to Hico to eat a late lunch at the Koffee Kup.  The place is well known for its pies and is a favorite for bikers passing through.

When we pulled up, there were nearly 20 bikes there, and a few more trickled in while we were eating.  My burger weighed in at a 1/2 pound, and there were several other options on the menu.  All I can say is yum!!!   We of course, had pie afterward!!!

As I am paying our tab, I notice someone gawking over my I/S; she still draws a crowd.  In another 10 years or so, I guess she will be an antique....hmmmmm!!

We decided to head back on Texas 6 and then then turned off onto 16 to drive around Possum Kingdom lake.   I would have taken some pictures, but we were just having too good of a time!!!

I did get a lot better fuel mileage on the way back, I guess the strong tail wind made up for the strong head wind going down.

If you end up in Texas, and find Hico, TX....give the Koffee Kup a try, they have PIE!!   2funny

I hope everyone else had a chance at a decent ride today!!!

See ya,

Sounds like a fun day.  I will ride down around Hico some day.  Possumm Kingdom Lake sounds cool too.  I think I went there on a Scout trip when I was a kid.

Thanks for posting.

We had chocolate meringue pie!!!

Possum Kingdom is a beautiful lake.  And the riding there is great too.

Today, we had a few hours this afternoon, and decided to head north to Oklahoma.  There is a place called Bill's catfish near Waurika that is one of my favorite places to eat.  We rode around thru Charlie, TX, which is a kind of mecca for fruit and pecans, the road is nice and twisty...great riding!!!

Ya'll come on and ride when you get time.   Believe or not, Texas is not all flat and straight.  We have hills and twisties here too!!!

see ya..
