I’ve got a ’99 Interstate and I would like to take off the trunk, buy a new seat, put on a new break light, and make it a single seater.  Has anyone done this?  I’ve been told that you can’t just buy a standard seat, it doesn’t match the fuel tank???  Is that true?

My wife doesn’t like riding cycle so I figured that why have the extra seat if I’m by myself, also, it makes picking up those hot looking hitch hiker chicks you only see on TV a lot harder and that would save me from explaining it to my wife later…. well, i guess i don't have to bring them home?

I used a Corbin "Rumble Seat". Works fine...

Check back in a few weeks. It's been made mo' blackerer - all the turn signal/taillight "chrome" was painted over the winter...smoked lenses and LEDs fitted...and the tank badges are gone. Will post more pix as soon as I take them.

BTW - used a Dakota Digital "hidden" powered antenna and mounted it to one of the fairing support struts. Works well.

Ultimate will sell you a single seat for your I/S
When I put my Ultimate I/S seat on my Tourer there is about a one inch gap bewteen the seat & tank.
On my Cobin seat which came with my I/S there are some washers on the front mount on the seat to make it fit.

I bought my seat set from a person in Florida off of a standard or tourer (can't remember which) and the driver seat fits perfectly. This is a really old picture.

I have a Russell day long on my standard.  I just put on an IS tank, and the seat fits perfect.

If you are interested in a stock single seat I have 2 for sale.  I have a stock 98 rider seat and a stock 2000 riders seat.
