The mosquitoes are BAD here......I mean to the point where ya need to tie a rag around yer nose and mouth to keep from chokin' on them.....

Ya spray down to the point of saturation..... then do it again in 2 hours..... I don't know which is worse.... the spray.. of the skeeters!!!! That much spray will make ya sick!!!!!!!

These are the little salt marsh skeeters.... and they HURT when they bite..... and they are in CLOUDS that almost block your vision.....

BUT  ...  we spray down. and get with the program...

This weekend, FB and I cut, split, and stacked 3 1/2 cords of fire wood..... All the wood was blowdowns and deadwood from the drought..Should get us through our winter and have BBQ wood for next spring!!!!!Will be WELL aged by then!!!! Plenty of Q wood for the GOTF's!!!!!!!!!!!!

  WoooHoooo Can't wait!!!!!

FB took pic of all the stacked wood!!!  I cut and split.... she hauled and stacked.... we are both wore smooth down!!!!!

Mark I've always heard that you should only use wood to cook with that comes from a tree that bears a fruit or nut.... What do you say ?

Always wondered why Noah did'nt just leave those 2 mosquitoes off the ark   Undecided

Joe,
I cook mostly with oak (white)...It makes an acorn.. is that a nut?...... and start adding pecan... (nut) the last 6 hours of cooking....when I put the chickens on...
I use oak because I cook the briskets 20+ hours... a lot of the fruit and nut wood is way strong when cooking that long and will make a really strong creosote taste to the meat.....  but that's just me....
The pecan .... simular to hickory.. but not as strong, adds a nice sweet finish to the brisket, and does great with the chicken and sausage!!!!
I have always been descriminating on the woods I use ta Q...And cut my own wood to be sure what I have.....  I love mesquite for grilling..... but not so much for BBQ with long cook times in the pit... way to strong for me!
I need ta have a One on One talk with Noah.... and see what he was thinkin' when he brought the skeeters on board... coolsmiley

It mite sound dumb but try bounce fabric softner sheets. Put it around the back of your neck and other openings around arms and legs. It seems to work up here in Minn. for skeeders, black flys and horse flys. I also put it in the 57 Chev. in the winter to keep out the mice.

Check out a Thermacell at Bass Pro or any other outdoor shop. They really work.

Man I hate those marsh skeeters.  When I was doing the Fly PHI thing, flew out of Sabine Pass for afew years, and during preflights at dark thirty, or any time you had to be out around the marshes or tall grasses they would swarm you so much that even your clothes loked like they were covered in fur.  They had regular skeeter controll flights over the area, but I think they were spraying skeeter vitamins instead of skeeter killer.

Mark, I got a couple of those electric zappers I hang around the deck.    Even when it has been wet and skeeters are thick, no problem.

Only problem is when you are trying to talk and you will hear this conversation.

How di zitt your day zitt g zitt.

It is about a foot tall, and maybe 12 to 14" around with this blue light in it.   Skeeters come in and go zitt, and fall to the bottom fried.

Maybe get 1 or 2 bites an evening if I'm lucky.    Most of the time it is zip bites.

These buggers were well worth the $$$$$ I spent for them.    Got them at Northern Tool & Equipment about 4, maybe 6 years ago on a gift card.

I feel your pain. We have clouds of mosquitoes too. We got 4" inches of rain and bang we have clouds of them. Worst I have ever seen them, and we have had way more rain than this. The dog is covered in welts, he has no sense, he still wants to be outside.

Ok, I haven't tried this, got it in one of those emails people pass on, but one said to spray the area with listerine mouth wash.  If you try it, let us know ifn it works or not.  All our skeeters are froze here, too.
