Eddie and I went shooting today and he brought his Taurus Judge. He took a wheel full of Winchester PDX1 rounds to shoot as that's what he keeps in the weapon for home defense. He loaded them up and commenced shooting and nothing happened... FOUR TIMES. To be clear; four of the five rounds in the cylinder failed to fire at all. All other types we brought worked just fine. The one that did go off looks like it'd make some pretty big holes in you though. I just thought that anyone here who might have one of those guns and is thinking about using that ammo may want to do a func. check.

I also bought a Colt AR15A2 today with two Colt 20 round mags, ten 30 round mags and 3000 rounds of Federal 55gr. along with 2000 rounds of steel case Russian surplus ammo. I put a couple hundred rounds of the Federal through it today. Man, I forgot how sweet shooting the AR is. Eddie brought his AT AK47 and while that's a fun gun it just doesn't compare to the AR. Sure is fun to shoot things with though.

Wow.... kinda scarey that the Pers Def ammo he carries failed to go bang. I'm sure he will be changing his Pers Def selection quickly.

I don't have an AR but have considered one of those for awhile.

Shooting is fun.....   cooldude

Tell me about it. Bad run of primers I suspect.

May be the gun too. My Springfield XD9 subcom will not fire wolf steel case. It dimples the primer but no boom. Same box of ammo with my buddies XD9 subcom and no problems. Then throw in that his jams every round on UMC and mines loves it.  Our XD's are sisters, one serial number off of each other, so its suprising to see the differences in the manufacturing.

Smiley If the revolver was fired alot then sat they sometimes leave a build up on the firing pin which will shorten the stroke of the hammer thus not extending the pin all the way. If the primers are a deeper set primer it will not fire. I suggest a through break down and cleaning.

I bought a Taurus semi model 917 9mm and had a similar problem, turns out the oil they use on new guns hardened behind the hammer wall from sitting had to disassemble the gun and scrap the material off it was like a waxy build up.

Just a thought, I am by no means a gun smith but I do own a few. I also have 3 Taurus's and they have a lifetime warranty any Taurus dealer will ship gun to the Taurus factory for service. If your dealer won't I suggest a phone call to Taurus  Customer Service

It's had very few rounds through it and I know it had a good cleaning before we shoot today but that's something to think about.

sounds to me like it is probably the ammo, like said earlier...possibly bad batch of primers...anything man made can malfunction but you really hope it isn't your ammo when you need it most.
