I looked, but we are too close to Indy and get the glow from them.

A friend wrote this as part of another friends eulogy   Smiley

One late Friday evening I was snuggled down in front of a log fire with one or two beers under my belt when there was a frantic knocking at the window.  I knew it could only be one person and I was met outside by an incredibly excited Boyo telling me to get into the Van because he had just seen one of the wonders of the world. I got in and we set off like a rocket and by the time we had stopped at the top of Seaton Road I had managed to learn that Boyo had witnessed the Aurora Borealis, the Northern Lights. We stood there together in the darkness staring at the star lit sky with Boyo saying, ‘Keep looking, honest Dick I’ve seen them,’ when suddenly far off over the horizon there it was!    Wow it was incredible, these curtains of light dancing high into the night sky. We were both amazed and enraptured by the event and there was a great shaking of hands and talk of yet another experience we had had together.

The next morning I told my wife Anna about the amazing event over a cup of tea and after she had digested the whole story she said, ‘Isn’t Stamford fair on this week?’

I saw them(one night) while standing on the shore at kilometer 13, west of Tripoli, Libya. Had been diving and didn't get out of there until after dark. That was also the first night dive for me. It was amazing to be able to follow your dive buddy by the florescent trail of his flippers in the Medeteranian Sea!

They are amazing. I was at Denali when they came on. The ranger was a hoot. He said they leave em on extra late when tourists are there. I told em we put the rattlesnakes away around 10pm during the summer so kids camping wont hurt one.
