2 Questions:
I am trying to replace my flasher.  I found it but how the hell do you get it out with one hand?
Is there a difference in the ICU from a '97 and an '03?  Asking because of carb and cam differences.

You may have to come in from the side with the reserve tank removed. One hand in there and the other from the top. It sits in a rubber holder so a little rubbing alcohol will loosen it up, doesn't cause any problems because it evaporates and leaves no residue.

Is there a clip that you have to release or does it just pull apart?

per the service manual, all carbs all yrs are the same only the part #s are different
all California bikes all yrs have the same cams,
all 49 state bikes all yrs have the same cams, although some publications state all '98 bikes have california cams.
so all yrs ICMs for I/Ss are the same
as all yrs ICMs for std/tourers are the same.

as a side note I picked up a set of '97 exhaust pipes cheap and all dimensions (ID of header pipe and exhaust piggies) are the same as the exhaust pipes from my '98.

I unbolted the coolant reservoir and moved it just enough to fit my hands in there..left the original hanging where it was..and yes there is a release on the connector, just squeeze it, and pull apart..my new one came with an adapter to plug into the original harness..

Thanks guys.  I got it out finally.  I had to fish it down through the bottom of the bike so I could get at it.
