New Valk owner here.  Have her w/ an ace motorcycle mechanic but non Honda shop, mostly BMW's.

I'm having him fine tune the bike and change all fluids.  What are Valkyrie owners putting in their engine oil & gear oil with ?

I'm new to synthectic oils.  Do they last longer, work better & cost a lot more ????

Thanx,

A lot of people use Mobil 1 for synthetic. You WILL get lots of opinions on oil and lubes. You could do a search for oil and have DAYS of reading and opinion. I have found that any good quality motor oil works well. Make sure it has no friction modifiers in the oil. There is many threads on how to identify oil without friction modifiers. I Have Mobil1 in the motor and Honda Synthetic in the rear end and I think both work well for me. Use the kind you feel comfortable with, and change it on a regular schedule. You WILL be happy with your Valk! cooldude

where are you

I am in NY and looking for a good bmw mechanic to check out my 1150rtp

Change the oil between 3000 and 10000 miles

just no energy conserving

I use rotellaT in the blue jug and amsoil severe duty 75-90 in the final drive

but any old oil that is not energy conserving will do fine if you change the oil every year

Just my opinion   yours may vary  heck even mine varies

welcome to the family cooldude

I believe an engine is an engine is an engine a mechanic showed me pictures of 2 different car engines taken apart down to the cam . Now if it's TRUE each had about 100K on them and each had regular oil changes one every day oil and any brand that was cheap, the other Mobil 1 synthetic. He first showed me the pic of the one with every day oil and it looked great for 100K miles. Then he showed me the one with synthetic, NIGHT and DAY difference!! The synthetic was twice as clean. If money means nothing go synthetic, if it does go regular. Basically what he was showing me is that's it IMPORTANT to change the oil on a regular basis  PERIOD

RULE of THUMB: CHANGE ALL YOUR FLUIDS REGULARLY REGARDLESS of MILEAGE!!!!   cooldude    ;)JUST MY OPINION Smiley

Walmart Filter. Check the tech board but I think it is ST6607 Walmart Super Tech Brand..

Rotella T Synthetic at 5w40 SHell Oil.

Guard Dog Moly Paste on the splines or the gears will not be fine.

Synthetic Hypoid Gear lube at 85w.

In the rear Diff.

Seals my squeal if you don't check the inside small rear wheel bearing.

Make sure the little holes on the output side of the diff are open to lube the drive shaft.

Or slap moly grease on the drive cup and do the shaft the same way as I do.

Turn your gas off after you get home or Hydrolock will make you groan.

That's about all .
