My folks have a prepaid cremation contract (priced 20 years ago). I do not know the cost, but knowing my folks it is likely about the cheapest way to be disposed of available. All that has to be done is a single phone call (anywhere in the world), and they take care of everything, immediately. The only option is whether you want the ashes in an urn for an extra charge. Our family is not big on ceremony.
I will be doing the same thing, with no urn or ashes. (Actually there was someone I wanted my ashes dumped on, but I cannot get anyone to do it for me)
This may be wildly unacceptable to some, and I understand. Funerals are for the living not the dead.

I told my boys to dig a big hole in the back yard and throw me in it, hopefully they'll make it deep enough so that hound of mine don't come look'n for a bone. Doesn't matter anyhow dust to dust, at that point I know I'll be look'n down

I'd want a "natural" burial. Hole in the ground, no chemicals... no vault or coffin. Just a burlap sack and tossed in a hole.
They have places like that.
I have made that request. I probably SHOULD prearrange it.

I think I'd like cremation and the ashes buried at sea. The Navy will do that for me I think...

Standard burial here alongside my wife .One of the Insurance policy covers it. Prearranged but not prepaid. I won't care but it's for my kids.
At any rate, don't make your family go through this at the wrong time. Don't ask me how I know.

Me, I am donating my body to a medical school, if they will have me. They will cremate me after they are done and will give back the ashes to my wife. Cost is $0.

How about a Viking funeral (since we ride Valks) They put you in a wooden boat coverd with flamable material cast you off , then one of your friends fires a flaming arrow in to the boat and your done. I have been telling my brother-in law this is what were doing for him when he goes. LOL

to really be honest, i'm extremely Closter phobic and just the thought of being in a coffin freaks me out, even if i'm dead!! being "cooked" still requires getting into a box! my ideal burial would be like the old Indian chiefs would have, you know, being placed on a suspended bed and have the birds eat me away.
my parents funeral expenses are prepaid, all they've got to do is call the funeral home, they do the rest. it was about the best thing my parents ever spent money on. when my son died we were lucky that we were high school friends with the mortician, and my in-laws had already purchased a plot. the most expensive thing was that darn slab of granite! he wasn't embalmed so we didn't have that bill. anyway you look at it, it sucks.....
gee, what a great subject we've got going!!

You have friends in the VRCC. just sayin'... Jabba Thanks.... that bustard should predecease me anyway, if I don't ride under a truck. If you don't make arrangements, it'll be up to someone else..... and as you know, enforceable arrangements are probably unobtainable.... your family can just ignore it and do what they want. But I think a prepaid contract (with reference in your will) would be hard for family to go against. What I do not want is embalmed with a big stupid smile and harlot makeup and put in a plaid suit with white shoes and belt and propped up for people to look at. That would be ghastly.

Looking fr a cheap cremation?
Just run a car tire. Not only will you get four times the mileage, eventually when the time comes, your body will be completely consumed as a flamming heap down the road.

+1 on the funerals. Who cares about unacceptable, not me. Saw my folks spend 10's of thousands on their and my grandparents funerals. Every time I go there I'm sad. That's not right. Ashes for me, spread on the Blue Ridge Parkway, even have the place picked out. I don't know you from Adam there Jess, but if the ash dumping is on an Ex-Wife...( I have two) I may be your guy!!
