The Twilight Zone

« on: November 03, 2011, 05:04:20 PM »

They said I have a disease called VAD. It is rare and  many have never heard of it. VAD ( Valkyrie Addiction Disorder) refers to the psychological dependence on Valkyries.

Unfortunately there is no known cure for this condition as deprivation is likely to lead to sufferers actively seeking and/ or approaching random Valkyries. Not only could this pose potential dangers to the individual but this behavior inevitably reinforces the sufferer's obsession with Valkyries. In other words it is a vicious circle! VAD sufferers should be permitted to spend time with their Valkyries despite the negative consequences which include significantly reduced social hours with non Valkyrie lovers, decreased regard for personal appearance and the strong possibility of this obsession causing poverty!

VAD sufferers are generally happy people, in fact all of them will tell you they don't "suffer" with this condition, they survive because of it!!  Wink

VAD is a certain and malignant behavior that has afflicted  many of my friends.

I try not to bring it up too often.

But the Motorcycle World has more than one brand to offer.

But they will have none of that.

It's Valk This ,,Valk That.

But I accept them as they are as we will you.

It can be slowed or caused to not keep you awake at night, but it is incurable.

Sorry to hear this diagnosis, just keep your head up and be proud is all you can do at this point.

You've found the support group!  That's a great start ...........

It's not as uncommon an affliction as you may have been led to believe.  Many of us here have it and enjoy it

I have searched all the medical literature I can find on the subject.  It appears that this is a condition that cannot be cured. It appears in only the most discriminating individuals.  However, there are treatment protocols that can alleviate the negative side effects associated with the disease.  The primary treatment that helps with the signs and symptoms is to get your arse on one and ride it!!!  Sitting in the garage and looking at her is considered a secondary treatment, but known to be still therapeutic at times.

You are in deep doo, dude, next comes Chrome disease. No one is rich enough to pay for the cure, so hang on to your cash while you can. Those of us afflicted are paying for this on a daily basis. Still, it's a helluva ride!

It have proven to be very good therapy to have at least two in the garage, eventhough trying to ride both at the same time is not a recommended treatment. I have been introduced to some who have as many as six, yes six and they are doing extremely well in the fight against this desease.

There are more advanced forms, as well.  I have a pretty bad case of it.

It is a chronic disease that has no cure.  I still get flashbacks and other symptoms such as hugging what used to be my Valk at Bellaire.

The chrome syndrome was easier to cure.  In fact there seems to be some sort of reverse affliction at play here. It might be called the ride it and forget it disease.  That's why I named my Vstrom 'Fugly' Grin

Valkyrie 12 steps

1. We admitted we were powerless over our Valkyries - that our lives had become unmanageable      without them.

2. Came to believe that the Power of 6 Cylinders greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.

3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of Valkyries as we understood Them.

4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of Chrome and other Bling.

5. Admitted to God, to ourselves and to other VRCCC members being the exact nature of our wrongs.

6. Were entirely ready to have our Valkyries remove all these defects of character.

7. Humbly asked Big Bike Things, F6 Customs, Ebay, and HDL and others to remove our shortcomings of chrome and additional performance.

8. Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all, even Harley Riders.

9. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when we wish to outrun them or others and leave them in the dust of our Car or Motorcycle Tires.

10. Continued to take personal Chrome and Bling inventory and when we were wrong promptly bought more.

11. Sought through prayer and meditation and serious Garage time to improve our conscious contact with our Valkyries as we understood Them, praying only for knowledge of Their unbought Bling for us and the power of 6 to carry that out.

12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to Valkoholics and to practice these principles in all our affairs.

Words to Live by....

You should have asked us first... we could have diagnosed you instantly!  It's a well known affliction in our world.

We call it Valkoholism.  Here's a link to the Valkoholics Anonymous page, where you can read confessions of other Valkoholics or post your own.

Do you really want to be cured?

Riding a Valkyrie is a very physical, almost sexual feeling. You accelerate fast and there is nothing between you and nature.
The wind blowing in your face is a marvelous sensation. It has tremendous appeal. My Valkyrie has a huge motor. With this under me, I feel I can do anything I want to.
