Today was alot like yesterday; clear, sunny, but a might chilly(37 deg). My wife got up early and kept looking out the window and watching the weather reports. She really wanted to ride at least one more time before we winterized the bikes.

As soon as I got out of bed she wished me a "Good Morning" in her special way and then said to me "we gotta get one last ride in". I couldn't have agreed more, but I said that we'd better keep it short because we needed to prepare our patio and bikes before the snow flies. Pam suggested that we do a "lunch ride" and head home so we could finish our pre-winter chores.

We got our bikes warmed up and decided to have lunch at "Aubry's" in Depot Town in Ypsilanti MI. I poured half a can of Seafoam in each bike and then we went to the closest gas station and filled our tanks.

We took E N Hines Dr (a local scenic drive) to Northville. In Northville we took Seven Mile to Pontiac Trail, then on to Dixboro Rd to Packard Drive into Ypsilanti. We meanderd through the back streets of Ypsi untill we came to the Depot Town area. By now the weather was 65 deg. and the sun was shineing bright enough to blind you. We parked across the street from "Aubry's" and had a local woman take our pictures.

We had a bowl of soup and a salad in Aubrys main dining area. It has been in bussiness continuously since 1870, feeding railroad workers, warehousemen, shippers, auto and aircraft workers, etc.

Depot Town is an historic district that has had a checkerd past, but that's history.

Depot Town is also the home of "Cafe Rcer Ypsi", a vintage motorclce shop featured on the Discovery Channels show "Cafe Racer".

And the girl pictured below was featured as a receipient of a custom built Cafe Bike. She had worked there as an unpaid volanteer. She was rewarded by an absolutely unbelievable custom built Honda CB360. She was filmed as the bike was presented to unexpectedly. It really was a tearfull moment caught on camera.
Her name is Malisa, and she is usually the first one you'd meet by phone or if you just came for a visit.

Cafe Racer Ypsi hosts a bike night on tuesday during the riding season and in the cold season they have a "Biker Movie" night with tons-o-food. Cameraderie is the order of the day: everyday.

All in all it was a perfect day. I couldn't help but smile and laugh all day long.

Peace

Nice report George  cooldude  I looked it up..

Depot Town was created after the Ypsilanti Train Depot was opened in 1838. As the railroad connected Ypsilanti, MI with Detroit, the area surrounding the depot grew. The commercial community known as Depot Town was built over the thirty years following the arrival of the railroad, and most of the buildings standing today were built from 1850 to 1880. In the early years, Depot Town included a flour mill, a large farmers' store, an iron foundry, a fire department, a clothing store, and paved streets. Ypsilanti's original city hall and jail were built just across the Huron River from Depot Town on West Cross Street. As the depot was built one mile north of the Chicago Road (now Michigan Avenue), the community of Ypsilanti was split between competing locations.

Michigan ElvisFestMain article: Michigan ElvisFest
Founded in 1999, the Michigan ElvisFest is an annual two-day festival held in July in Riverside Park and Depot Town. Established to replace the previous Ypsilanti-based music festival, the Bob Marley Festival, ElvisFest has grown to be the largest Elvis festival in North America, attended by approximately 10,000 fans each year. In addition to Elvis impersonators, ElvisFest also often includes performances by Tom Jones and Roy Orbison impersonators. <-----We have one of these in the VRCC.

I'd like to see that place in person.  He has R/C vehicles and planes hanging from the ceiling and pilied up on shelves on the walls.

Two of my favorite hobbies.....motorcyles and R/C.
