Here's the story.

http://blog.al.com/breaking/2011/11/huntsville_truck_driver_involv.html

The driver who killed the rider was later arrested at a traffic stop and charged with DUI and possession of a controlled substance. They're not saying whether or not he was DUI at the time of the accident, but ya gotta wonder. Prayers up for the family.

Santa, you live in Ardmore - did you know this rider?

Too sad.  I wonder though.  "Truck"?  Pickup or semi?  When I hear ruck, I think big rig.  However, most city people call pickups "trucks".  I wish the stories would tell which.

As a truck driver/owner, seems like big trucks get blamed for all the pickup accidents.

I'd venture to say it was a pickup..........   Just a gut feeling.

I think I have always heard "pickup" when a pickup truck is involved and "truck" when most any other commercial type truck is involved.  I could be wrong, but that is what I seem to recall from my experiences listening/watching the news.  Unfortunately for the rider, it didn't make a difference what kind of truck hit him at this point tho.

Edit.... a little search revealed it was a "pickup truck" according to this report at least.....

Prayers up for the families from the ozarks. Yet again another bro i never knew gone. I don't mean to preach to the choir but this never gets any easier or the pain less or the idiocy any easier to accept. We need a day each year to honor the bikers we lost the preceding year. May GOD rest his soul. RIDE SAFE.

Mr. Gentle it was later reported to have cooperated with police at the scene.

The newspaper story amended the story at 5pm to say he was at the scene and cooperating.

Not found later like the story first alluded too.

At least he is not a total waste afterall.

Just stupid and a guy dead due to that stupididty.

Rest in Peace Brother.

Except for the Grace of God , Go I.
