From one verteran to all others, Thank you for your sacrifice.  I tend to get emotional at this time of the year, thinking what our veterans go through on a daily basis, and what has been put aside to serve and protect our country and way of life.   I was not in combat like others out there, but we all served in some way, shape or form.  I would do it again without question.  Again, thanks for all fellow verterans, past, present, and future.   cooldude

Another personal Thank You to all of you vets. I just missed Vietnam and the draft. There didn't seem any reason to enlist at the time. In retrospect, I wish I'd put in a stint.
Dad was a 20 year man. (A Green Beret) I grew up in a military family, largely on base. I saw enough to understand that being in the service is far more than a job that last for x years. I watched those heros as I grew up and realized that the service was even more than a way of life. It altered them down to their very cores, bringing out the best in them, bravery, honor, loyalty, and dedication.
While I thank you for your service, I also thank God for blessing our nation with such people.

Happy Veterans day.

The draft didn't get me but it got close enough to scare me to inlisting in the Navy before the army or marines wanted me. My number was 77 and they had called up to 66 and it was only May so I just joined. Spent four years and it was good for me as I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life at the time. I grew up alot during those  four years. Thanks to everybody and all my fellow veterans.

Thanks old geezer for this thread.I was a navy corpsman 69-73.I went to keg parties instead of class, knew i was going to get drafted so i joined the navy.I was a corpsman, used the gi bill once i got out.I have been a registered nurse for last 35 years.I remember when i got out and i applied for nursing school.Being a veteran and 4 yrs hospital experience was the only reason they let me in.My GPA was 0.85.I had to make a lot of good grades to make up for those keg parties and bring it up finally to 2.33.The military made me grow up.
