A little confused........

Both of my rear shocks have the indicator arrow on the front side of the shock.  One of the shocks is stopped with the number 5 above it.  The other one has the number 5 180* rotated away, on the opposite side of the arrow.  There are 10 holes.  There are 5 holes between the hole labeled 5, and the arrow.

I don't feel like the side that's 180* turned feels weak or bouncy.  Bike feels stable.

I can't see the adjusting steps, and wanted to see what you guys had to say.

What brand of shocks do you have?

I have Progressive and they are on a stair step.

Each click will either send you up one or down one.
Total of 4 clicks to the top.   DO NOT go higher than 5, you should only go down from the step 5.

Showa MZ0-003, which I believe (??) are stock.  I guess I'll just back them up until I'm at one and go from there.  It just seemed odd that the label and arrow are 180* apart.  I'm thinking perhaps the PO went past 5, kept going and the shock went back up the stairs right away, instead of waiting until the adjuster went back around most of the way.  *IF* that's the case, then they're both set on 5 (according to my cypherin')

I've turned mine past "5" with no problems.  Turn it past "5" and the preload goes back to "1."  There's a bang as the spring goes from 5 to 1, but then you know absolutely for sure what setting your shock is on.  Turn them till the bang, then they'll be on 1, set them where you want them from there.

Had similar shocks on my trike.  But there was no cover on them, and you could see the steps.  I'll fiddle with them tomorrow.
