Hi Fellas Seen a Few Valks With The Front Raked. Can Some One Tell Me What Difference There Is Or Why Do It. Kind Of Looks Nice But Was Wonder How The Steering Control Changes. Was Thinking About Doing My Tourer. Any Input Is Really Appreciated.  cooldude

I raked my Trike to give it easier steering, like power steering.   On a 2 wheeler, I'd reconsider in my opinion.

How ever Daryl at X6 Store could probably answer your question better, he sells the degreed triple tree.

He is one of our clubs sponsors and I don't think he would lead you astray.

No affiliation with him, but he is a good party to work with.  I have his 7* tree in my Chevy Trike, what used to take 2 strong arms to turn before, now can be turned with a couple of fingers.

I have Daryl's 4 degree trees. I absolutely love them. It makes low speed handling much better. And they look great too. Grin

Flat out best mod I ever did on any of my Valks.  I wouldnt own a Valkyrie without it now.  Huge difference is slow speed handling and overall light feel.  Besides the fact that is looks so much better and cleaner. Call Daryl, he will answer all your questions.

RD - you mentioned you changed over your rake to your IS. How much of a mod did you have to adjust the fairing to keep on a horizontal plain?

Nothing at all.  I called Daryl and asked him the same question before I installed it, he said just bolt it up, everything will be in line. It was.

Rude Dog,

What is the rake on your new bike?  I really like the look.

I have the stock ones and low speed handling has always been terrible.  Didn't even know something like this existed.  I would love the longest rake possible, 8*, but not if the handling, slow or highway speed, is diminished.

XF6 also sells fork extensions, so the lowering effect of the raked trees can be reversed, leveling the look and faring position. I'm sure Daryl has all the info you need to do the rake without affecting other aspects of the bike's geometry.

My rake is a 6 degree.  That is what you want for the Valkyrie, unless you have a sidecar setup or something.  Go for it, you wont be sorry.

I have already informed my wife that I know what I want for my anniversary present next year.  6* rake trees with extensions, if I need them.

Early last year I read a post from STEELERS-Rude Dog when he installed his 6 degree rake. He raved about it so much that when I was at InZane last year, I went to see Daryl. He let me throw a leg over his bike that had the 6 degree rake on it and I fell in love with it and purchased the produict.

I installed it over two nights and absolutely love what it did for my bike. The handling is so much lighter at any speed. Easier to lift the bike off the side stand.

Buy it...................you won't look back!
Happy Anniversary!

Im not a corner carver, but if you install the fork extensions it will offset the lowering of the rake kit.

There are two types of raked trees. There is the sort which shortens the trail, like the ones you are talking about  http://www.xf6-custom.com/partpages/tripletree.html and a more expensive type, made by AME Germany, that don't alter it.  http://www.chopperkitusa.com/02-vtx1800-18-8%20.htm

Valks have a stock trail of 5.98", at the long of end of normal, which gives heavy low speed steering and ponderous turns, so when you shorten the trail with raked trees, it quickens and lightens up.

Daryl told me he can make the off set trees like the old Two Brothers, or the raked trees. he talked me into the raked trees. I'm very happy with them.
