I will tell you a story my Dad told me while he
was in Bethesda Naval hospital before he passed.
I have kept a book of stories that I was told
so as to pass them on.
  Well here goes
He stated talking about a large hall filled with all the young men
he had die in his arms being a Corpsman in the Marines through three wars.
The hall would have all the food that they craved when in the mud and muck
and could not have at the time.
The thing that struck me hardest was when he said these young men had smiles on their faces
and not the look of pain or fear.
Please say thank you to all thosethat served and gave their all today.

     To all those;THANK YOU;

Dave,
No doubt you are a better man today for having been blessed with a Dad like him. I salute his sacrifice, his service and the heart of a lion. A medic is the most difficult occupation in a war. I am sorry for your loss, but when you see him in Glory, words can"t describe that.

Thank You really does not cut it.

For Me.

I am not a Veteran.

But Veterans for my part,, deserve our unending respect and gratitude.

Any one that does not support the fightin man and woman, does not  deserve to live in this free land we love.

Yep,

My father told me to be decent, fair, honest and truthful. Keeping to those
precepts has been a life lesson.

My father joined as an 18 year old inbetween WW1 & II.

After WWII he opted to continue his service.

He eventually retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. Pretty much unheard of in the British Army to rise from the ranks to an officer of that stature.

Some of you will have seen these photos before.

Post Army he worked at Leicester Museum and upon his death we donated an extensive butterfly and moth collection we had collected in S.E Asia to the museum
